Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper in the Passover. The Passover was to be eaten in a household, or if the lamb was too much, shared with another household.
The Bible, in Hebrews 3:13, says to exhort one another daily, while it is called today, let any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 10:24-25 says to consider how to provoke one another to love and to good works, not to forsake assembling, as the manner of some is, but to exhort one another.
That is the THE passage preachers use to get people to 'go to church.' But it doesn't say 'go to church'-- as in the church building with the steeple. The command is to assemble. You can assemble with your family, if you live with them and they are believers. My family have family devotions nearly every night.
We've suggested meeting with the Burmese neighbors across the street, who are believers. They haven't taken us up on it yet. We've gone into 'stay at home' orders since then, or will soon.
This is a time to spend more time on your family. If you have children in the home, spend time with them. Teach them. You can fellowship with your husband or wife. We can also spend time on line or on the phone with people fellowshipping, exhorting them, and praying with them. _________________ Link |
