Post Prodigal thoughts... bradfreeman
Both sons in the story of the Prodigal underestimated the goodness of their Father.

Both sons wrongly thought their relationship with the Father was based on what they did and not His love for them.

Like the Prodigal, you may think the Father will make you a servant, but He will welcome you as a son.

Like the older brother in the story of the prodigal, you can live in the Father's house without ever realizing that all He has is yours!

Like the prodigal, you can be welcomed home without understanding just how good your Father is.

Like the older brother, your anger may keep you out of the party, but won't stop the Father's goodness or generosity.

What got him out of the pig sty?
Running out of cash?
Fear of punishment?
Hunger?
The realization that things were better in his Father's house?

He believed his father would take him in as a slave.
You would think that lack of faith would have nullified his chances.

Yes! It shows that we don't have to even understand how good He really is for Him to welcome us home and show us how good He is!

The belief that he needed to leave his sin and get back to the Father's house.

It's a real shame that God now withholds healing to those that show a commensurate lack of faith - since he wants to always heal - but the majority of the time today he won't do it due to some lack of faith of all those folks at the cancer ward. He makes everyone stay outside of the house of healing - until you get the right level of faith. I guess it is the flip side of your comment above - shows how bad he really is nowadays, huh?

Regardless to the what, where, when His grace is sufficient. And it is new every day.
