Who is actually running Lee U? |
sadlytrue77 |
If MW is running Lee why does it seem like the same woke policies are in place and the same kind of speakers are in our chapels
I wonder if PC is not still the boss and MW is just a suit that handles the busywork? _________________ Hate to say it, but its true

Sacrosanct Names |
Mat |
In the COG there have been names which have been considered "sacrosanct." While PC had reached that level until of late, perhaps there is a relationship between his retirement form President (though still very present on campus) and the open concerns voiced about policy and an institution which has seemingly moved to a more political correct (also with the initials "PC") position.
You could say the same about PC's father, CC, as both he and his seminal work on COG history were held sacrosanct for generations. There may be some who thought PC did not allow research which would have contradicted CC's writings. Few would dare question CC's educational level when he wrote "LAMA" or his methods for gathering historical material, especially those employed at Lee or who wanted a future in the COG.
The issues of holding people or institutions sacrosanct is it can create a false reality that when dispelled leaves people angry and feeling betrayed.

That is true. However it is something that seems cannot be avoided, whether it be a local business, church or in fact a denomination. I would venture to say (but have no idea it is fact) that all denominations have those "NAMES" that stick out for years. I know growing up in the COG there were 5-6 family names that stayed in church headlines, still do today.
Probably also in the COGOP.
That is NOT to say that these family names do not deserve recognition. After all the NT itself is limited to several FAMOUS names.
I respected the name Charles Conn. Mainly because of one weeks teaching at a Missouri Camp Meeting. It was the BEST teaching on scripture I have ever heard in my life time.
Just sayin'.

Esteemed Brothers In The Lord |
doyle |
My personal opinion is that both Paul Conn and Mark Walker are incredible and esteemed Brothers in the Lord who have excelled in life and the Lord's work. Mark Walker has excelled at every place he has served. So has Paul Conn.
THOSE WHO LEAD THE BAND, FACE THE MUSIC
Are there changes that need to be made at Lee? Of course there are. That is true of the Church of God in General and all of us in it. The largest room in the world is the ROOM for IMPROVEMENT.
Unless we ourselves, our institutions, our denomination, are open to, and actively seeking for ways to be more effective, even if that means change, the future is not bright for us. It has ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY!
MEN WHO UNDERSTOOD THE TIMES
"The children of Issachar were men who had an understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do..." (I Chronicles 12:32).
When someone offers ideas for improving our serve, instead of curling up into a little ball of bitterness, say, "Thank You for caring." Can we turn our life over to what everyone else wants us to do? Absolutely not, but if their idea has merit and can improve our service in the Lord's Harvest, it won't break our face to hear it.
It is nonsense to feel that loyal people who have ideas different than ours, are somehow an enemy. Wanting your Church to succeed is not disloyalty.
SEND OUT THE WORD denomination-wide, "Your thoughts and ideas are welcome. (Only dummies feel otherwise).
LAY ASIDE ALL MALICE against anyone. Open up. Let our faithful people have a say in the future of their church and it's institutions. Nobody in our church is elected to be a Warden. All of us from the General Overseer to the newest member, are volunteers. Anybody can leave at any time. Nobody is being held against their will.
WHEN WE WELCOME INPUT, important things being to happen: 1). We learn for certain what people are thinking. That is a thousand times better than depending on gossip (What someone supposedly said) and scuttlebutt.
2). It provides us an opportunity to share with them. "Thank you for your concern. Can I count on you to join with us in praying about these situations? I cherish your prayers."
3). It helps them feel part of the team. Almost everybody wants their team to succeed. They become a partner in seeking to help that happen.
