FOR THE FIRST TIME since the year 1493, Pentecostals are on the verge of becoming the largest Faith Group in Latin America.
At 11 AM on Thursday, August 2, 1492, their Captain Christoper Columbus and 93 sailors, met at church for Catholic Mass, prayer and Holy Communion. Early the next morning, with giant Crosses painted on their sails, they took a GIANT LEAP into the unknown.
Sixty-Seven days later on October 12, they landed in what is now known as San Salvador, Island in the Bahamas. They had traveled approximately 4,030 miles. However, they had missed their destination (India) by over 8,000 miles.
FROM 1493 UNTIL 1825, Spain alone sent over 15,000 Catholic Missionaries to the Americas. Latin America has been predominately Catholic ever sense UNTIL NOW.
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL shares the incredible story of how that is rapidly changing in Latin America as Pentecostals SURGE in enthusiasm and numbers.
