Seeking information??????? |
sheepdogandy |
Is anyone aware of an effort to free slaves in Pakistan?
Had a lady call me this am and ask for information.
She said her pastor (United Congregational Holiness) was working with a Church of God pastor to free slaves in Pakistan.
The deal is if you send $280.00 one slave will be freed and receive a goat.
Anyone aware of this?
Is this legit?
I have never heard of this before. _________________ Charles A. Hutchins

Sounds very suspicious to me, too.
If this is an area of missions interest for you, you could ask for a reference to the Church of God pastor and verify his credentials -- however, unfortunately, if he holds valid credentials that doesn't necessarily mean it's not a scam. You could also ask for information about the organization that handles the money and verify their 501(c)3 status and look them up on the charity watch websites.
If there isn't a legit organization handling the funds, I would probably consider it a scam. |

The lady who called lives in another city.
I have known her family for many years.
"She is sharp as a tack" as we say here in NGA.
She asked me to find out what I could.
A google search turned up nothing. _________________ Charles A. Hutchins

The United Congregational Holiness Church is a valid, yet small offshoot of the Congregational Holiness Church, headquartered in Griffin, GA.
The Sister who called is a member of a UCHC Church.
Her main concern was paying ransom, which is also my concern. _________________ Charles A. Hutchins

It’s almost certainly a scam. If there’s not a credible 501(c)3 involved that can be researched and validated, it should be a burning bright red flag.
Smart people get scammed all the time. It’s not a matter of being smart or not. This thing is blaring warning sirens. She should listen to them. |
