The old axiom " giving a man a fish will feed him for a day, but teaching him to fish he will feed his family for life." Or something like that.
There are people who do not want to learn to fish. Of course this has a much deeper meaning, there are thousands of jobs (like fishing) but some are not willing to learn, or search to find 'their nitch' where they can SURVIVE.
I KNEW I would never build sky scrapers or malls. But I learned I could build the small home.
Not every carpenter can build a house, but he can drive a nail.
All this comes from hearing 'leaders of the poor' screaming that if millions and billions can be given to rebuild Notre Dame, why not millions to Yeman, the poor in Paris, the slums of NY and SF?
The logic is true, but the reality is Most likely iF ND is rebuilt it will stand for many years. If billions are given to feed people they will be fed for days only. I am not stating MY VIEW, I give to people who will NEVER get 'back on their feet' almost weekly. I am stating how I see some of the very rich, who feel you can never fill a bottomless pit! Also many want the notoriety that comes with high profile 'donations'.
Many rich folk HAVE lost a view of the poor, saying I made they can. THAT is true to point, but some people can only do as I once did, get paid 50 cents an hour to stuff the Parade Magazine inside the weekly comics for Sunday's paper. That task took me about 40 hours a week for a large newspaper.
The whole rich/poor situation can never be explained to some folk's satisfaction. We all know that Life isn't fair and the poor you have always. BUT God is still good and we all should do what we can for our fellow man.
The problem is, we want the other guy to Learn to distribute His wealth.
I will NEVER forget a young college grad in an interview when asked about the rich in the USA.
"WELL, ALL THEM RICH PEOPLE GOT ALL THAT MONEY AND AIN'T GIVING US NONE!"
