LIVING BY FAITH, NOT HUNGER
"And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased”...And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” Mat. 3:17 through 4:4
The "tempter" wanted Jesus to focus on His hunger and His circumstance.
The "tempter" want Jesus to prove His Sonship by doing something to address His hunger, by doing something.
Jesus wasn't moved by hunger or a voice that questioned His Sonship or God's love for Him.
Jesus didn't find life in doing something (He did plenty).
Jesus found His life in the Word proceeding from His Father.
You won't find your life in being hungry...you'll find the tempter.
You'll find your life and victory in being filled with the Truth of your sonship, your righteousness, peace and joy.
Believers find life, peace and joy in knowing that they are IN CHRIST, in the Beloved, in the One who pleases Him.
He is the Truth about us..."as He is, so are we". 1 John 4:17
This confidence let's us live from a place of peace.
We overcome the tempter, and the world, by believing the same thing Jesus believed...that He is the beloved and pleasing Son of God.
"For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" 1 John 5:4,5 _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!
