Church of God Fruit Cake |
Nature Boy Florida |
I just had someone tell me there was/is a recipe for fruit cakes that all the COGs used to use.
As one who never eats fruit cake - perhaps I overlooked it.
I know our church used to make some - but was there a universal
COG fruit cake recipe everyone used? Published somewhere?
I am told they surprisingly tasted good. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

I'm not familiar with it (I didn't grow up COG), but I'm assuming it must have been one that didn't require being soaked in rum.
I used to buy Claxton fruitcakes (which don't have rum), and I liked them. I really like dried fruit and nuts, and I think you have to be a fan of dried fruits to like fruitcake.
(Oh, and what a relief this thread was not about a person, lol!)

The Live Oak CoG in Live Oak, FL used to make a VERY good fruitcake. It has been several years since I pastored near there, so I'm not sure if they still make them. It was for many years a big fundraiser for them from what I was told. As I recall, it did not have a lot of the soft candies in it like some fruitcakes have, and was more cake than fruit, though it did have dried fruit in it as I recall. |

I don't know about COG but you might be able to get a good recipe for it out in California somewhere. _________________ Link |

After the thread on letting Apostles and Prophets preach, I thought it may be about COG (people) fruitcakes also!

Live Oak Church of God makes a great fruit cake. I know that Elmer Holbrooks' church did, too. |
