No, they don't.
'Life' in its biblical sense, means so much more than mere existence. And 'eternal' refers to quality as well as quantity. |
Yes, they do have ongoing existence, awareness, feeling, understanding, etc., so in that sense they life as we know it in the physical (or even metaphysical); however, they do not have zoe. |
It's life, Jim, but not as we know it. _________________ Senior Pastor, Solid Rock Church, Drogheda

So what you're really really saying is, "He's dead Jim"

If the end result is simply ceasing to exist why wouldn't an unregenerate person want to gratify themselves and their desires all they could? What compulsion to deny themselves and turn from sin does believing in God, Jesus, and eternal life really give them without an experiential consequence in the afterlife? Of what use is the warning of coming judgment if the ultimate sentence is merely nonexistence? |
Because the bottom line is not about a subservient relationship, but a Father/Child love relationship. The promise of eternal life (vs eternal death, not eternal dying) in the presence of love, fulfilling created purpose, is the penultimate of human existence.
To merely use the miracle offer of salvation and relationship with God to escape something is a gross undersell and a perversion of the invitation of God. We are NOT called to miss hell. We are called to enjoy heaven. _________________ Live an epiK life!
