Very Important Fact About #thinkyounger Movement |
caveator |
I am on my way to Nashville with my list of names that I will vote for tomorrow. Many of the guys on my list are on the website that Marty Baker has published.
I am not a big fan of Marty's efforts or the website. However, I have come to realize that some are penalizing those who are on his list. I just read a Facebook post that said, "I'm not voting for any of these self-promoting guys."
The reality is that those guys didn't ask to be on the list. I've not seen any of those guys promoting themselves. I've spoken to several of them who were not even aware that they were on that list until it was posted.
You can choose how you want to feel about Marty Baker creating a website and listing names with file numbers. However, please don't punish good men because they happen to on someone else's list against their own wishes. Those men have been placed in an awkward position. Many of them are extraordinary leaders who I hope will have an opportunity to lead.[/i] |

Marty said he didn't ask anyone to be on his list.
For all we know, many or all of those guys do not even like Marty. Then again, they might love him.
If they aren't voted on due to Marty's website, then we can be sure they don't like him.

Many, not all, who are likely candidates are self promoting. It has been so, long before any of the social media outlets. It always has been a sort of popularity contest. I know that years ago word would be pased around by district pastors before the GA. "Remember, we are backing Bro XYZ and Bro ABC in the elections." The youg pastor would NEVER ask who 'we' are. I and the others knew it was the SO and most of the state board.
Now the politicing can be done more effeciently. LOL _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

Self promotion is a problematic component within the dynamic of any organization. There is nothing wrong with the desire to serve on a board, in an administrative position, or to express it and make that desire known. It is the methodology of the process that becomes problematic. What often happens (more often than not) is that ethics is tossed to the side, other potential candidates are demeaned/maligned, and you have a dog-eat-dog dynamic. Unfortunately, this happens among some ministers every single election cycle. |

Easy solution for these guys |

ask Marty to remove their name from his website. But, I would say the majority of them are excited that Marty Baker even knows their name.

I seriously doubt that is true.
The guys are on his list are successful pastors/leaders already. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

Tim Hill, John Childers, Tony Stewart, Kevin McGlamery, ? Bonilla, and Travis Johnson were all on the #thinkyounger list.
Several others on the list got a lot of votes, but did;t make the final cut. |

Good thing Tim Hill made the thinkyounger list. No one would have voted or him otherwise. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |
