Inspiration or anointed maybe excited?? |
Cojak |
I have been around the COG all my life. I have heard the terms anointed applied to sermons/messages many times.
Fundamental preachers 'styles and abilities' vary. Most people consider the 'excited preacher as anointed' and the steady 'teacher type message' as "ONLY TEACHING" . The 'ONLY TEACHING" ATTITUDE continually worries me. I and many other people have been blessed to our core with a solid BIBLE centered calmly delivered message.
At the Old Camp Meetings style meetings I was blessed and learned more in the 'Morning Bible teaching.' One has always stuck out in my mind it occurred in the early 1960s. It was a Missouri Campmeeting teaching was done by Charles Conn. The BEST I have ever heard and methinks it was anointed, at least that is what I felt.
Can we be mistaken by excitement and anointing?

People who can't discern will blindly claim someone is "anointed" when they are just good a DELIVERING a sermon. |

I believe that it might be more correct for someone to say they have an "unction" than an anointing. If there is a call on your life, God has already anointed or set you apart. If there is a deep prompting or enthusiasm by the Holy Spirit, wouldn't "unction" be more correct? _________________ Doctor of Bovinamodulation |

I hadn't thought of that. It is definitely a good point, language and terminology can get mixed by we neophytes.

There are definitely those orators who can stir the depths of listeners, they also make good salesmen. Cases in point the Politicians who have 'The Gift' of communications. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!
