A solution for global warming? |
Aaron Scott |
Just so we're all on the same page, yes, I realize that global warming, like the claim that smoking causes cancer, is utterly false. But even so, there are things like pollution and the such that are definitely caused by humans.
Yet due to the COVID-19 shutdowns around the world water and air clarity have substantially improved. Some of our most polluted cities have rebounded in air quality, etc.
It got me to thinking that instead of the slow, often politically-hindered, attempts to reduce carbon and greenhouse gases, it might be that COVID-19 has shown a light on our path.
WHAT IF every years (or every month), like a Jubilee or the such, the world hit the "pause" button for, say, a couple of days a month or a couple of week a year? This might give nature an opportunity to reset and rebalance to a degree that would significantly impact global warming statistics.
At the same time, this pause could be used to memorialize those lost to COVID-19, to reflect on lessons learned, and to simply rest and reconnect with those we hold dear.
To my knowledge, no global warming model has actually taken into consideration such a massive, worldwide shutdown as has happened with COVID-19. Indeed, if the carbon footprint of nations progresses at the modest speed that most nations indicate, then no wonder the models tend to spell doom. But if we could actually have a worldwide "pause" every so often, it might put our efforts on steroids, such that we are given a headstart, so to speak, in reducing these problems.

How bout we just wait the cycle out? You knw, they used to grow oranges in south Georgia. It got colder, not warmer. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |
