 Andy Stanley - Selfish if you dont take kids to large church |

How could He believe this?
He stated it in a sermon...and after the blowback he received...he was forced to recant.
Wonder what else he thinks about those of us parents that took our kids to a small church?

I saw the whole sermon in context and understood what he was saying but he didn't convey the message correctly. It's amazing how a preacher say one thing wrong and he gets slammed all over the place. What if that happened to regular guys? There are people that out here that say stuff all the time that will never get called out. But, unlike most everybody, Andy tweeted out an apology:

The negative reaction to the clip from last weekend's message is entirely justified. Heck, even I was offended by what I said! I apologize.
And, after apologizing, he will still be slammed by folks all over social media. He's a good guy who messed up with his thoughts, which by the way, was not a theological thought. |

According to Eddie Andy need a interpreter. I don't think so. He said "Exactly" what was in his heart. To make a comment like this shows his decernment! He has waffled on several issues the last several years. I have never been a Andy Stanly fan and this is just another reason why. What if God tells some one to go to a small church. That did not cross Andys mind I guess! This shows how Spiritual small Andy Stanley is!

You fit, where you fit. It may be hard to find that, but when you do, WORSHIP and Praise God. I find it odd that folks can understand flavors; choc, vanilla, etc and can accept the fact others may not like the flavor you prefer and do not try to convert them.
I am sure there are some wonderful godly folk in mega and small churches. God Bless 'em and he does. Andy's statement was 'ignorant' and as he said he realized it after getting critiqued. His apology was genuine, methinks.
I smile at the definition of the small church being from 200-800. To me the small church is 20-50. I see more of those.
As always there are good points to the big and small, just love 'em all and find your 'best fit' and fit -in!

I've got to comment on this one. I've been a part of NPM for almost 4 years now. I have grown more in my faith in this time than any other period in my life. This includes Lee, Seminary, COG Ordination, etc. Please use more discernment in making such blanket statements. |

There are advantages to a large church.
There are advantages to a small church.
Andy only knows large churches.
He probably now has a greater appreciation for small churches.

I am not attacking Andy Stanley but I think we all agree that he is not preaching a message backed by Pentecostal doctrine and having the Gifts of the Spirit in operation at their services. I am not debating what you have experienced Peter and am grateful that you have grown spiritually under Andy Stanley's ministry. If this is the case I believe it is proof that our Pentecostal church world is lacking the convicting/edifying true Gifts of the Spirit. I just believe this adds credence to my recent comments on the video of David Wilkerson's "A call to anguish" post. |

Andy preaches the Gospel. I will stop there because I'm not going to criticize the Pentecostal approach that I am most familiar with. |
