The McClain Bible Church is located about 15 miles West of the White House near Leesburg, VA. It is a massive and well-respected church. That part of Northern VA trends more liberal with lots of parishioners being government employees.
Sunday, the pastor prayed with President Trump who it seems came for prayer after Franklin Graham and over 200 Christian "leaders" asked people across the nation to pray for him.
However, the next day, the pastor gave a written statement that seemed to backtrack or explain some of his reservations. Possibly I'm reading something into the statement, so whachathink?

Very thoughtful statement from Platt. Given 1 Timothy 2:1-6, it would seem the decision to pray for any leader would always be correct. |

I haven't followed this, Did he say at some time earlier he would not pray for the president?
Our pastor on Sunday night took time to lead in prayer for the leader of our country. As I think he should have. He did not endorse the Pres, but prayed for solid leadership and prayed for our Great Country. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

No backtracking. Just a simple explanation to his congregation on why he prayed.
A very thoughtful response. |

He didn’t backtrack. He simply explained what happened. I thought his prayer was great and everything was appropriate. |

No, he backtracked... |

He said that some in his congregation had VALID reasons. I'm trying to think what those valid reasons might be, but the only thing I keep coming up with is "they don't like Trump, and they don't even want to pray for him."
And that's that.
Anyone who thinks a prayer is an ENDORSEMENT is just silly. |
