The biggest honor I ever received in ministry was being asked to do the funeral service for a pastor who was a true servant of God. He spent 55 years at the 2 churches he planted, pastored successfully and developed ministers to carry on the work at both churches.
I shared II Timothy 4:7-8: 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Philippians 3:13-15: Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
May God use you to bless the family and impact lives for Christ! |
