Dake Bible: The Bread & Butter of Prominent Pentecostal Preachers/Congregations? |
Old Time Country Preacher |
The New International Dictionary of Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements states that after 1963 the notes contained in the Dake’s Bible became the “bread and butter of many prominent preachers and the staple of Pentecostal congregations.”

If I could have only one book, no computer program or any other study helps I would choose my Dakes Bible.
Not because of Dakes personal notes, but because if the references and definition's he offers.
I rarely take it off the shelf these days because my PC Bible program gives me all the references and other helps I need.
Dakes former pastor preached for me once.
I happen to know T.L. Lowery used a Dakes Bible. If it was good enough for Peter, Paul and T.L. it is good enough for me. _________________ Recorded Sermons @ www.pastorwiley.com

But the print is far too small for me to use. Some folks have trouble separating his notes from the Word. _________________ Doctor of Bovinamodulation |

My dad had one among others. I heard some good things about the Bible over the years. I think dad looked at it a lot like JLarry. A handy reference was always good when your library was limited.
I bet if you tried OTCP you cold find something real good to say about something. Something positive, Immafraid you do come across purty negative.
I am sure you don't in the pulpit. They'd probably invite you to leave Pikeville iffn you wuz.
I'd also bet that there are a bunch of folk who like Mr. DAke's Bible. Never had one myownself. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

I have a Dakes |

And I like some of it. Prior to the full life study bible (now the Fire Bile) and the Spirit filled Bible, Dakes was the only Pentecostal study Bible around. I have used the Thompson Chain Bible for many years and if I didn't have a computer it would be the best Bible imho. |

I have been familiar with Dake's for several years. Definitely interesting. I don't agree with everything he says by any means, but he definitely had a fertile imagination on a lot of things. His notes on sanctification and holy living are especially good. |
