How often have we heard someone when talking about a loved one use the phrase "they know the way." It's almost as if God is going to give them a pass because they know what is right. The second time honored phrase is "I brought them up in church."
I can be somewhat direct. I ask, "Are they serving the Lord? Who rules their life? What if they died right now?"
After much waffling the person will finally say, "I guess they would be in hell."
I respond, "Then stop making excuses. They are lost and undone. Begin praying for and witnessing to them from that standpoint."
Sometimes loved ones can be in denial, too.
