Post Re: Hey Bonnie bonnie knox
Nope, you have misrepresented me and others and called us names on an open forum.
You also claimed you wouldn't be posting here much longer. (You posted that over a month ago.)
The onus is on you.
My comments DO NOT show I'm a cessationist or doubter. You have called me that. If you cannot demonstrate that, you should apologize.
You can't simultaneously claim to be wanting all God has for you and at the same time misrepresent fellow believers.

love u sis, but get over it. My words are only hollow to you. I stand by what I said. Your comments that produced the reaction from me clearly made your stance on those issues known. If you are not a cessationist then embrace the supernatural God and His Spirit unashamedly and quit nit picking and criticizing people who are merely trying to have all that the Lord will give them by His Spirit in their ministries.

Post Baptism 4golf
I did read years ago that Andy Stanley does not believe in the second Work of Grace or the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The thread was about joining North Point and I made a comment that it seems strange to me that a Church of God Church would join a church that does not believe what the Church of God has as there Decleration of Faith. Yes Patrick I know a lot of Church of God churches do not believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and a lot of Church of God preachers preach that they don't believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not evident by speaking in tongues. They are no different than most "Seeker Sensitive" churches today! If you don't believe in the foundation of the Denomanation why be in it?

Post Options for those concerned.... patrickballington
...about our kingdom partnership for the sake of the gospel

1) pray for us....just don't prey on us. We believe that God led us to this partnership and are still listening and leaning into him for the future. If we "missed it" then pray God would reveal it to us by his Spirit rather than through your criticism.

2) ignore us.... plow your own field, stay in your lane, stay focused on God's vision fro your church, and reap your own harvest....but just ignore us. A wise Pharisee once said it best "If what they are doing is not of God it will pass. But if God is in it, do you want to stand against God?"

As for my alignment with the COG, I hold much closer to our doctrine than any other denomination I have studied (but I have not studied them all). I remain humble enough to accept that we (COG) are not without flaws nor incapable of error. So I hold tightly to the Scriptures, the Cross, the Resurrection, and the Spirit but hold loosely to the COG declaration of faith and practical commitments.

The strength of my commitment to the COG is found in relationship and respect for fellow ministers and leaders who have mentored me, invested in me, and given me opportunity...but my relationships and respect are not exclusive to the COG. Our relationship with North Point is merely ministry partnership- but the depth of relationship and respect I have for the COG is why I have chosen to be more than partners but also credentialed and accountable.

By the way, 4golf and others who share your concerns: you should be thrilled to know this past Sunday we had 4 couples/families from North Point attended The Bridge as a result of our partnership. Just think, our partnership could mean NP people come to the COG and experience the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. You should be excited and supportive of that! Influence flows both ways. Don't pessimistically assume that we will move away from our Pentecostalism rather than they become open to it.

Bring the Lost to Christ Don't give your time or thoughts to the critics. Lead souls into His Kingdom.

I for one could care less what banner you wave or who you associate with, as long as you are preaching His Word and as long as you are winning the lost.

Few have won as many to Christ as Andy Stanley has. As I said before they can go to heaven whether or not they speak with tongues.

Let the main goal be the main goal. I appreciate what you are allowing the Lord to do through your ministry.

Post Thank you, jlarrry patrickballington
...and also Eddie and Bonnie and those who have stuck your neck out to give encouragement. Sympathizers help bolster against criticizers and 1 encourager gives enough courage to face dozens of discouragers (and in this case there are far more encouragers than discouragers. Thanks for being among them.). Friendly Face

These arguments against partnership are preposterous and the pursuit of partnership is propagating to every Kingdom value imaginable!! As PB said, influence flows both ways and influence is impossible without relationship.

Every day of my present life I regret that fear precluded an opportunity that I had for a great partnership that may have saved me a lot of grief along the way. Never say never to doors that God ordains to create Kingdom synergy and energy.

Exclusives create exclusion and exclusion breeds extinction. Thank you, Patrick, not only for the insight and boldness to go this way but for sharing it and then defending the value without apology. I've already told my wife that if/when we ever get back to N Georgia I want to live near Cleveland so that I can support you and the vision that is unfolding there. But, never fear, I love The Keys and the Conch Life.
