Poll: Footwashing ordinance or not? |
roughridercog |
Let's not debate it. That's going on in another thread. Let's just see how many feel it's a ordinance.
I say no it's not. It's a good thing to practice, but it's not an ordinance.
Okay, guys, no debate, just a simple yes or no. |

No.
Scripture may support a historical tradition but not a spiritual ordinance.

You're welcome. Due to the fact that this is a poll only and should not be used to argue the issue, the thread will not rise to the top due to lack of new posts. Therefore, I will make this thread sticky so that others may see it and vote before it works its way down the page. _________________ Signature Themes: Connectedness | Futuristic | Ideation | Intellection | Learner |

No!
You want to wash feet OK. I might join you. But, I would never have communion and foot washing in the same service. _________________ Larry Wiley |

Christian ordinances symbolically convey profound and foundational truth to us. They do not save - they should edify and reinforce existing faith. The Church of God is drifting from its roots, therefore, we think it's now an optional issue. But I believe it to be an ordinance in keeping with the words of Jesus. _________________ www.spiritwatch.org

I think the Church of God has made footwashing something other than what it was meant to be |

I say no, but I do believe it is a great act of humility and |

service. However, if one defines an ordinance as a something mentioned by Jesus or something he did, then yes it is.
However, Jesus also said to heal the sick and we have fought tooth and nail to remove that part of what Jesus did on the cross. So by some peoples logic, I would say healing the sick is also an ordinance. |

A whole lot deeper meaning than humility and service. If that is all it was, there are better options for humility and for service. This deals symbolically with your sin. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

I'll take the dare. I have read the book as well as sat under his teaching as he was working on his thesis, and I say it is not. |
