'Core' Christmas Hymns |
Link |
What Christmas hymns or songs do you really need to have at a Christmas Celebration?
These are some of the top ones as far as I am concerned:
Oh Come all Ye Faithful
Joy to the World
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Angels We Have Heard on High
Nonessential songs would include 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' or 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' and any song that says Jesus was born in a manger. He wasn't born in a manger. That would have been really cruel to Mary to put her in a manger to give birth.
I have heard stuff like 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' or 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas at Churches in Indonesia.' I heard 'Auld Lang Sayne' in a Chinese bi-lingual church, but it turns out they used the tune for a real hymn and just used the weird traditional lyrics in English when they sang the English part. _________________ Link |

Yeah, that could have hurt her and baby Jesus. Off the top of my head I can't think of a song that says Jesus was born in manger. However, it is still morning.
There are several that are very nice tunes and certainly remind us of Christ's birth but aren't 100% technically/biblically correct.
Joy to the World could be more than a Christmas song. I guess it is so linked to Christmas that people would not want to sing it any other time.
But on every once in a great while I hear O Come All Ye Faithful at other times.
O little Town of Bethlehem is a great one. |

I enjoy all the old 'Christmas Carols'. Today in church I heard (partially) a new Christmas song that more 'jazzy' (if that is the right description) and I liked the beat! _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!
