So it's clear Loran doesn't like Trump. (I certainly don't either, by the way).
I agree we have a great big bunch of sin problems in our country.
The rest of Loran's speech seemed to be an attempt to appeal to various ethnic groups by bringing up various historical problems, while giving no real solutions. |

I was wondering if anyone would go there. I agree. But I'd say his heart is in the right spot. We have to figure out how to be unified in the Church at least, the world is probably not fixable politically speaking (and maybe that was his point). I do think the Church has to start looking to God instead of America for the answer. I like the comparison of the left and right wing he made. The left wants to remove God from America, and the right wants to make a god out of America.

I wasn't really expecting political solutions per se, though politics may certainly have a part to play in any real-world solutions. Pointing out that the real problem is sin, while true enough, doesn't really solve much. For example, the issue he raised of how mistreated the Native Americans have been by our majority-Euro-American government in the past, while true in many cases, really doesn't have a real-world solution as far as I can tell. If all white people and all other immigrants from the past 300 years were shipped back to their respective original countries, and all land reverted to the original Indian tribes, would that make the Indians happy? If not, what would make them happy? And what about the many of us, like myself and my wife, who are of both various kinds of European and Native American descent? |
