Trump's attack on G.W. Bush (L) |
Resident Skeptic |
Quote: | In a culture where "politics" has become an echo chamber — a vain hall of mirrors installed by the worship of rhetoric and self-regard — true politics, the art and science of victory, is dead. The kinds of action that arise from a corrupt political culture, from the corrupted idea that politics is a game of semiotics first, are, therefore, also corrupted: fake actions, actions without integrity, actions born to lose.
Trump is saying that, under George W. Bush, the Republican Party allowed its understanding of politics to be corrupted. For whatever reason, under Bush, the GOP became a party that let self-aware rhetorical posturing dictate the way policy was formulated. The result was failure across the board. Worst of all was the ensuing failure of memory as Republicans forgot the winning arts and sciences. In so doing, they enabled America to lose its way in the hall of mirrors — and lose its greatness.
This is a dagger to the heart of the Bush legacy.
But Trump is not just running against Bushism. He's running against what it's a symptom of — the certain kind of insider sophistry that he says defines the political class. That's why he was onstage at all last night. That's why he's in first place now. And that's why he's more at home in the GOP than so many want to admit. |
I do not know anything about the author, but the article is interesting..http://theweek.com/articles/606035/why-donald-trumps-vicious-attack-george-w-bush-brutally-effective--brilliant _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

Why is trump focused of Bush who is way behind in the polls? Trump stated
"W messed up. He hurt the party". " "The war in Iraq was a big, fat mistake. "
Why didnt Bush respond about donald mistakes when he went bankrupt 4 times?
Bush needs to spend a little time on a line crew and learn the ropes of defending yourself. trump is constantly interrupting Bush but Bush just lets trump rant without injecting the same.. Geeesh.
When logic doesnt work you have to get just a dirty or dirtier than your opponent. |

Because Trump is a bully and Bush is the nerd who doesn't quite know how to stand up to him. Rubio played the part of the good-guy Saturday when he said "I for one thank God it was George W. Bush in the Whitehouse on 9/11 instead of Al Gore". That was a great moment for him and may have turned things around a bit more for him. We'll see. I'm afraid that at this point, to beat Trump will require either Cruz or Rubio to drop out, that would seal Trump's fate and he knows it, its probably why he goes after Bush so much, kind of a smoke-screen, he doesn't want Cruz or Rubio to drop out, he doesn't care if Bush does. |

He's a pretty smart business man, I think he deserves that much credit at least (though you're correct, he is a massive narcissist ). Trump has about 40% of the Republican primary voters in his pocket which is enough to win the nomination as long as there's more than one other viable option, that's pretty clear. Its also clear that if he gets the nomination, he picks up maybe another 15 - 20% going into the general election. No way he can win. I think Rubio has the most "I'll vote for him if he's the winner" votes by far and is the most likely to beat Hillary. Cruz MIGHT be able to do it, but it would take a pretty good running mate and a strong anti-Hillary campaign to do it (something 3 times as aggressive as the last two duds had) |
