Several years ago, the appeal of Sam's Club was that you could buy in bulk and get a cheaper price per unit of volume.
But I go there now, and it seems like they just let you buy in bulk. But there any discount? Is the advantage over Walmart the fact that Sam's has food on the shelves now?
It's hard to tell, since prices are going up so fast. Maybe it is cheaper than Walmart because both of them have high prices, but I am skeptical. Maybe there is a discount. I'm thinking of the fruit. They'll have a big bag for $6. If I buy from Sam's, I can end up with half a bag of oranges that my kids don't eat that go bad. I've taken to buying a few apples, a few oranges, or whatever in small quantities from the 'bulk' section to prevent waste.
I don't know if Costco offers better prices or not. But some of their Kirkland food actually tastes better than other brands. |
