It is a common belief in charismatic circles that demonic spirits are territorial and will return to a place/region where they have operated in authority before. Daniel speaks of the demonic prince that the archangel Michael fought for 21 days in Daniel 10.

I have heard stories of Middle Eastern men who were kind and gentle in America that return to the Middle East and their personalities change drastically when they return to their homeland. The thought is when they return to that region where familiar spirits (spirits assigned to their families) are in operation, they are susceptible to their influence if they don't know the Lord.

I have also heard teaching/preaching that says that demonic spirits sometimes come into a place with someone who is possessed or if something happens that gives the spirit an invitation there (such as using a Ouija board watching a demonic movie). The Word tells us not to give place (opportunity) to the devil and I believe there are certain things we can do that open us up in the spirit realm to demonic activity. (Not possession, but the enemy does bring attack and torment at times.)

Post We met with the friends of these people Ernie Long
These friends have health issues and have a caretaker that comes to their house several times a week to help them, it is the caretaker's son and his girlfriend that is living in this house with their small daughter.

The caretaker attends a Church of Christ church here in town.

The couple has owned the house for a year, but rented it out. The tenants moved out and this couple moved in last week. They have heard "noises" several times since moving in the house.

The girlfriend walked into their child's bedroom and the little girl was sitting on the floor having a conversation, when the mother asked her who was she talking to, the little girl said it was her "friend". I don't know the age of the child, but I thinking around three years old.

I asked if the caretaker has spoken to her pastor about this and was told she had, but he wouldn't give her an answer.

This couple is not married, but are living together and have a child together. The mother told her son that since they are living in sin, that even though the house can be prayed over and the spirit be cast out, it can't be done, because they are living in sin and until they accept Christ as their savior and get married, this spirit will continue to haunt them.

I agree they do need to ask forgiveness of their sins, accept Christ as their savior, and get married, but telling them they need to clean themselves up before the Lord will do this didn't sit right with me.

If you have ever prayed for anyone on this board, PLEASE pray for me to have wisdom and to be led of the Lord. This couple needs to hear that Jesus loves them even in their sin and not some religious garbage that they need to clean themselves up before He will do anything for them.

Herein lies a major part of the problem. Many common charismatic beliefs are either extra-biblical or blatantly false.
