On a scenic hill (St. Thomas Mount) overlooking Chennai, India, is a lovely church built beside where Thomas the Disciple was killed while preaching there.
Because of his wanting to see some evidence that Jesus was truly resurrected from the dead, Disciple Thomas is often labeled as "Doubting Thomas." However, after he believed and exclaimed "My Lord and my God," Thomas became a missionary to India.
While preaching near Chennai, India, he was killed with a spear. He died 3,124 miles from his home in Jerusalem. Where he died is still preserved and you can visit it. A friendly group of nuns, wearing brown robes with white sleeves, have daily prayers there.
You can stand where Thomas died. Stepping to the place where he died, I was overcome with emotion. Tears flowed down my face as I worshiped our precious Lord Jesus.
It is not an overstatement to say that those moments there where Thomas died, were some of the most powerful spiritual feelings in my life since being filled with the Holy Ghost in Fresno, California at 17 years old.
