The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “All the nations will be blessed in you.” Gal. 3:8
From the beginning, the Gospel message has been the message that God will bless all nations in Christ.
God has blessed America, God is blessing America and God wants to see America prosper and be at peace. That is the Gospel, that is His will. Not just for America, but in Christ all nations are blessed.
First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Tim. 2:1-3
As preachers, we need to be declaring the blessing over our nation that Christ brings - all nations. We need to be declaring the peace and prosperity that God wills for our nation and all nations.
We need to be giving people something to believe about America and our future. We access this favor, this national blessing by faith.
So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer. Gal. 3:8
So we need to give the nations this Good News to believe.
The nations are blessed because they keep to a moral code, reliance on that for blessing brings a curse.
For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to perform them.” Gal. 3:9
So we should never disqualify a nation from this new covenant blessing because of moral failures. We should never condition national blessing on a nation adhering to a moral code. It simply isn't the basis for blessing. Faith in Christ's finished work as the cure for our moral failures is the basis for blessing and "those who are of faith are blessed".
So let's believe in Christ's work, not ours. Let's declare the national blessing the Gospel brings on all nations so that our people will believe our nation is blessed in Christ and not headed to Hell in a hand-basket because of its moral failures. If we rely on morality as the basis for our nation's blessing, it will bring the very curse we want to avoid. _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!
