George Voorhis gone to his reward

Dr. George Voorhis, founding president of East Coast Bible College, and general of the faith, has gone to his reward as of 3:20am today. Since his last stroke a couple of years ago, he has been unable to read or communicate as he once did. He has been known to tell people to stop praying for his healing because he wanted to go on to Glory. He is now reunited with his Lord and his wife, Margaret.

Dr. Voorhis touched the lives of countless ministers around the world and is beloved by all of his students. His passion for the gospel and for encouraging and helping young ministers is why ECBC existed.

In all my years I have known FEW Excellent Teachers. In grade school I had 3 teachers who could drive your mind to learn.
In the church I enjoyed LB Thomas as he taught in the old 6 week Summer Bible School. Charles Conn was tops at preaching/teaching the Bible.

BUT hands down, George Voorhis was a man that kept you on the edge of your seat in a class. He KNEW how to 'Command attention'. I remember Sis. Voorhis talking with a group of us after church one night about George's health. She said, "I told George God was keeping him here for a purpose."
She said his retort was, "I hope He tells me pretty soon, I am suffering, and ready to go meet him!"

Memories and prayers for all involved. Whether you agreed with him or not, one had to admit, he lived his convictions. Cool
