Post Kate Smith - Racist Nature Boy Florida
And she is famous for singing "God Bless America".

This was just too easy for the main street media to kill two birds with one stone.

Too bad - her rendition was pretty good.

I found out recently that Mozart's music is actually full of slurs. A real shame since I loved listening to Mozart's music. Here is just one example:

With my system I am having problems locating the racist lyrics. How ever since every high profile individual's life is fair game all the way back to high school, it is going to be tougher and tougher to find qualified people for public office. Redemption is not allowed, change of beliefs and standards will not be accepted. The Drunk who is a rascal before salvation will never be forgiven.

Tis a shame. I always liked Kate. Embarassed

Cojak,
I think she is in trouble for singing a song once that said: "That's why darkies were made".

It is in debate whether the song was satire or not - but it sounds pretty bad to today's enlightened citizens.

However , the state song of Florida - which has a state memorial made in the songwriters name - also mentions " O darkies how my heart grows weary". Even worse it is written to be sang by "darkies" and has very poor grammer calling a river a "Ribber" - among other things. Not sure how that gets a pass - but Kate is forever kicked off the team.

Thanks NBF, I am sure if I had the patience, I could have found it. I am on line via cell phone. Maybe one day I will get some cab le net! LOL

But I do appreciate it. Yes, it is strange how one 'ignorant' moment can ruin a good person. Too bad we all cannot have 20/20 foresight like some JUDGES! . Cool

That's just awful. What was the name of your school - Klansman High School?

You probably been to the formerly named Dixie Stampede too? Vile.

Look, "That's Why Darkies Were Born" is repulsive. So are the Bugs Bunny clips Roughrider posted in the other thread. They're inexcusable and no one -- especially no follower of Christ -- should ever say otherwise.

That said, we know our country used to be very insensitive to racial minorities, even after slavery and equal rights. It's natural that the culture and productions of entertainers would be as well. I'm not sure what's gained by crucifying people who were just a reflection of the era in which they lived. It can't be excused, but it can be understood, and I think it can be used as an illustration for how we have grown as a nation and why it's necessary for us to keep doing so. I'm not sure what we gain by disavowing anything and everything these people have ever done, and working to pretend like none of it ever happened.

Also, if we're crucifying people over their racism, I hope the folks who are outraged beyond belief over Kate Smith will look at Margaret Sanger next. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

They won't.

Okay. Then maybe they can look at the NY Yankees and their history of racism. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

A little history lesson on sports names. Being a Braves fan, I hear all the time about how racist the name is. Sometimes, we get it from or Northern friends. But, here’s the deal. When Ted Turner bought the team in 1976, he petitioned MLB to change the name from Braves to Eagles. MLB denied the request. That’s on them, not Atlanta. Acts-pert Poster

This is nothing compared to the Yankees, who were still working to ensure baseball was a white man's sport nearly a decade after Robinson. They have never acknowledged or apologized for any of it.

They took that statue of Smith down, though!
