Incredibly EASY way to learn Spanish OR other languages for FREE |
doyle |
Though she is only seven years old, my granddaughter is becoming proficient in Spanish. She is home-schooled so there are no Spanish kids or teachers she learns from. I asked her where she was learning Spanish.
She told me about http://www.duolingo.com. It is a place where one can start learning as if they are a child and advance through other levels. I started at the Kindergarten level and quickly zoomed all the way up to 1st grade. Woo Hoo!
Watch out world! I'm headed for the 2nd grade . Seriously, it is a fabulous way to get started in learning Spanish. I've begun because we now have many patients coming through the Emergency Room who don't understand English.
My interest is learn basic Spanish so at least they can get a kind greeting and prayer in their own language from a Chaplain. Obviously, most who arrive at ER are traumatized. A calm word of encouragement or brief prayer in their language will mean a lot to them.
Here is my learn-a-new-language theme song:
One word at a time Dear Jesus, that's all I'm asking from you.
Help me today, show me the Spanish I want to do.
Yesterday's gone sweet Jesus, and the border is now open wide.
Here they all come, some even run, till they get on our side.
Adios Amigo,

Security certificate is showing as valid for me.
I've been using this site to learn Spanish for an upcoming trip and it's been great. I need to start using it more. |

I've found that the fastest way to pick up a language is to travel to the country in which it is spoken. When you get hungry, lost, or need the loo, you'd be surprised how fast you can pick somethin up... just sayin _________________ ....from Barney Creek to Bountyland through every open door |

Once I get settled, Imma going to try it. I tried to learn Spanish (Burlek?) while hiking the AT. I did no good. 3.5 years in GITMO and I learned Que Pasa? I really want to learn some Spanish. I am meeting many Hispanic folk that I enjoy just waving at and speaking to. Now That I can hear better with this implant I am going to give it another shot. Thanks for the pointer Doyle. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

odd, it won't work with Chrome (just stops at a welcome page, with no options), and with IE I get an invalid cert... So I installed it on my phone and its working great there. I'm at level 4 after taking the placement test and it says I'm "2% fluent" I've been slipping for years, time to get it back. |
