Uber on hold until football season |
Resident Skeptic |
I did an Uber marathon this past Tuesday, working 10 hours, noon to 11 pm with a one hour break for supper........
78 dollars was my pay out.
What really made me mad was that I finally lost my 5.0 driver rating. It is now 4.96. That means someone gave me a less than 5 star rating on Tuesday as my score had been perfect up til then. It's one of those things where you drive yourself crazy trying to figure what you did wrong or what might have upset a customer. Or perhaps some people are just overly picky.
Bottom line, driving 28 miles one way to the nearest viable market simply is not worth it unless that market is a major metropolitan area. Without UF, Gainseville is just another small Florida town. If I lived in Gainseville, then it might be a different story.
Thank you for your kind attention. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

thanks for sharing, its been interesting. Did you calculate your expenses for that day? (mileage depreciation and fuel costs?). It must really only pay in large cities.
On an interesting side note. My son is in Costa Rica studying Spanish for the summer and being 17, he only uses Uber. He said the cabbies chase the Uber cars yelling and screaming that "its illegal" (the app works for drivers in CR, so its obviously a lie). But he said it got a little scary once. Apparently some cities don't take well to free enterprise and competition. |

The Uber info is interesting. Thanks for posting it. I have a son interested in the idea in Charlotte, NC. He is already a Courier there. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!
