Post Thoughts on "He could do there no mighty work"? Aaron Scott
We know that this was due to unbelief. But what exactly did they NOT believe?

That He was the Messiah?

That He was a prophet?

That He could heal?

That He could do miracles?

Your thoughts appreciated.

Just a personal thought:

John 20:30-31 might be some insight.

Per John: Miracles were to be a sign of who he is and was. Perhaps no amount of miracles would have convinced the majority there who he was.

It does say he could do a few miracles, maybe these were miracles for those who did believe or could have even been acts of compassion by him.

Ultimately, faith in Jesus as Messiah (God’s Anointed Savior and Deliverer) or rejection thereof, is the issue. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

Patrick's suggestion of John 20:30-31 is correct. John chose 7 of Jesus' many miracles/signs, records them in his Gospel, then tells his readers why they were chosen--to create belief in the fact that Jesus was/is Messiah and that in believing the person would obtain eternal life.

Miracles/signs/healings/etc were NEVER extended primarily as a means of alleviating human suffering. John clearly stated there was a much higher purpose of belief in Jesus and eternal salvation. Ever single person healed of a physical disease died from something else. A feller can git to heaven sick, he can't git there lost.
