Are you feeling restless? |

RESTLESS HEART
"As I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’”
Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God."
Heb. 3:10,11
What will keep you from entering His rest?
What kind of heart falls away from grace? An "evil, unbelieving heart".
The word "evil" is translated from the Greek word "poneros".
"Poneros" means "full of labors".
Can you believe the work is already done?
Can you rest in the finished work of Christ?
Is your heart restless, full of labors, always focused on the unfinished work of you, feeling too weak, too small or disqualified to possess a land of abundance and blessing (a Promised Land that God calls "rest") that God has promised you?
"So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief." Heb. 3:19
An unbelieving heart is full of labors, never resting.
A believing heart is a heart at rest.
"For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said,
'As I swore in My wrath,
They shall not enter My rest', although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.” Heb. 4:3
Faith looks a lot like rest.
God finished the work of the original creation, then placed Adam in a finished work.
Then He rested because the work was done.
"For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works” Heb. 4:4
God finished the work of the new creation in the cross and resurrection and placed us in a finished work.
We enter that rest because the work is done.
"So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His." Heb. 4:9,10
Rest from your works, as God did from His.
Religion's message:
Try harder, do more, quit this, stop that, move closer.
Jesus' message:
Rest.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." Mat. 11:28
When you finally get worn out on religion, He'll be there. _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!

People are on the fast train to hell all around me. His work is finished. His work in and through me is far from done. |

1 Cor. 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.
Dave, when we have it right it'll be "the grace of God" laboring when "we preach", not us. We will be working from rest, not for rest. _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!

Amen. I'm not working for rest, but I sure am WORKING from rest, and I desire that by God's grace I may work harder in Him each day than I did the day before.
Matt 9:37-38 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” |
