Poster "Link" made the following ovservation in another thread. Very timely IMO, so his post has been brought here for your consideration.
LINK'S POST:
When the angel of death was outside in Egypt, the children of Israel were in their homes, eating the Passover. The Passover pointed forward to Christ, who instituted the Lord's Supper, something we celebrate in church meetings. Early church meetings met primarily in homes.
This is a time to return to the family. We get busy doing many things, off working. Now, many of us are forced to spend time at home. We should spend time with our children.
We should already be teaching our children the word of God, not leaving all the education to schools, Sunday school teachers, and children's church.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. (ESV)
Ephesians 6:4
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. (ESV)
Now, many of us have an opportunity to spend time with our children. The Bible says not to forsake the assembling of yourselves together. But we can gather as a family. That's still assembling. We can teach and fellowship with our families, if we have them. Singles may need to use the telephone or Internet during this time to 'exhort one another daily while it is called today, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.' _________________ The largest room in the world is the room for improvement. |
