Anything in the Bible against using Marijuana?

I've never smoked Marijuana or eaten one of the brownies, but I have done a lot of sugar; cookies, pie, cake, ice cream, fudge and sugar brownies over the years. Research is now showing that sugar is in itself a kind of mind-altering drug.

I'm no advocate of Marijuana or any other illegal drug, but are we against it because it is illegal or because people ingest it by smoking? It is legal in Colorado and one can evidently find it in forms other than smoking it. Does making it legal make it OK?

Of course, MJ does affect the body "Temple," but so does being overweight, not excising or eating too many hot dogs. Sadly, in addition to hot dogs, I also like sugar stuff. Just recently, the devil built a store a few miles from my house - a brand new "Come and get-em while they're hot" Krispy Kream. I have to drive past the bloomin place five or six times a day. I don't go in but... I usually want to.

Isn't there a song "If wanting to is wrong, I'm struggling to do right?"

I have no hankering (Southern word for wanting to) for MJ - actually would rather have a Krispy Kream or Dunkin D's.

In our thinking, does MJ fall under the admonition in Scripture "Be not drunk with wine..." If so, does it also fall under Scripture "Take a little wine for thy stomach's sake?"

Would the use of MJ be grounds for expelling someone from church membership? We don't "church" members or preachers for eating too many doughnuts, being far overweight or for not exercising - all which are probably more damaging to the "Temple" than an MJ brownie.

"Don't you dare touch MJ or you'll get 'churched,' but on the way home, would you please pick up several dozen Krispy Kreams? We need them for coffee time at church."

The Bible tells us to be sober and vigilant, for our adversary the Devil goes about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. I can tell you from past experience that marijuana makes you the exact opposite of sober and vigilant, both physically and spiritually.

The Bible also tells us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, MIND and STRENGTH, and to love our neighbor as ourselves; that is, to live for the highest good of all and for all. Intoxicating one's body and mind with a stupefying drug like marijuana greatly hinders one's ability to love God and others as we ought.

The Bible also tells us to do all we do in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving glory to God the Father through Him. Can we imagine Jesus willfully harming his mind and body through the use of a substance that only makes a person stupid and unmotivated, and in many cases bipolar and paranoid?

I totally agree. I'm no advocate for MJ but some of the other things we do are also incredibly harmful. Massive sugar intake, packing on lots of extra weight and drinking gallons of cola, are probably more damaging to us than an ounce of MJ.

Some of the mind-altering drugs prescribed these days probably do more harm that MJ. Yes, stay away from MJ but maybe also consider the damage the others are doing to us.

Okay Bro Doyle. Thou hast done it. Throwed them Krispie Kreams out there with MJ & wine.
A bunch of folk on this board will tell you they ain't never heard of being arrested for smelling kk on your breath! No one has ever killed anyone after eating a dozen donuts and driving. Shocked

SEriously I have no idea what effect MJ has on pain nor disease. I have never used it nor even tried it without inhaling even. But my mama the most Christian living woman I have ever met, after taking some drugs prescribed by her doctor, hallucinated, talked my dad who had been dead for years, and saw people in the room who were not there.

I had never thought of comparing MJ to theother drugs, I really do not know the good or bad or MJ. worse than wine, probably not but I have no idea. Confused

Did God create the Marijuana plant?

If so, Genesis tells us that after creation, God looked at it all an said it was "very good." So, wouldn't at include beans, corn, peyote, poppy flowers, marijuana, etc..........

I do not know how to respond to this thread.

I have Bill Clinton beat. I have never puffed, much less inhaled.

I have been tempted more times than I want to admit. But never tempted to smoke a joint.

I need all the mental faculties I have working as good for me as can be. I do not need anything to mess me up.

I well remember the last time I got drunk. I drank vodka for the first and last time in my life the date was, 12/21/68. I remember how it messed my up and I never want to be that messed up again. I remember hugging the bowl. Now don't that sound exciting! Sad

I had a brother who smoke enough MJ for both of us. One day I went to his house, uninvited to watch a race with him. After about a minute, I said, well I better get back to the house. I never told him I was there to watch the race.

The Bible says nothing against marijuana...nothing.

Nothing that goes into a man defiles him...nothing.

The Spirit is leading us into freedom, life and love. If He leads you away from gravy, donuts or marijuana, you'd be wise to listen.

There is a very interesting show on TV that tells about the usefulness of medical Marijuana. I seems to really help people with seizures.
