Post Isn't it tacky when.... Link
a preacher loses lots of financial support because he committed adultery or some other stigmatized sin...

and then condemns those who won't send money to his ministry as if they are persecuting him and opposing God by not sending him money to fulfill his call?

Don't many pastors, whether they've sinned or not, regularly condemn their flocks for not giving?

Is condemning, in any context, an acceptable technique for soliciting giving?

Condemn - "katakrino" to judge worthy of punishment

Thayers and Strongs agree on this one.

If I recall correctly, it was Francis who said something along those lines about giving. I saw it on TV while visiting some kin on the US mainland. She didn't mention her husband's past as the reason. That may be a distant memory for her. My Baptist cousin-in-law was stating her agreement with Francis when she said this.

Althought I sort of agree with Link, I have been in the COG and other religious denominations and have VERY SELDOM heard condemnation of members not giving. JMV

You are very lucky. I have seen people condemned to hell many times for not giving, mostly in the COG.

Yeah it is tacky, it is also ignorant (I first said stupid but that isn't true). I was taught in my early years, God will provide, and he always has. Anyone putting a guilt trip on someone has little faith themselves or they are just like many of persons on the corner (the addicts) with the cardboard sign. Idea
