In remarks about his teen years and journey into ministry, David Cooper, Pastor of the Mt. Paran Church of God, shared that he failed his first attempt at taking the entrance-level Ministerial exam for the Church of God.
His comments came near the end of the Memorial Service for Dr. Paul Walker who had pastored the church for 37 years. Dr. Cooper explained why he had failed the entrance exam.
To a joyous response, he said, "I thought the exam was going to be about the Bible." He had memorized Scriptures supporting all the church teachings. Instead, the first exam was about "Church Polity."
"The next time I took that exam, I was ready for it." Dr. Cooper declared.
Viewers will enjoy those comments, but also the story of his beginning as a teen at Mt. Paran, something he was not particularly glad about at the time, and how over the decades he grew in faith and wisdom to become Pastor when Dr. Walker retired.
Dr. Cooper's comments begin at the one-hour, forty-two minute mark (1:42.02) of the video linked above. _________________ The largest room in the world is the room for improvement. |
