Mexico testimony |

A few nights ago, at a neighborhood home cell group here in Mexico, I shared the story of the conversion of Cornelius. First, I shared the wonderful attributes of this man according to Acts 10:2,22......
a devout man
one who feared God
who gave alms generously to the people
and prayed to God always.
And.
a just man
has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews
But an angel of God instructed him to go see a man named Simon Peter who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved (Acts 11:14).
Cornelius was a good man, but he was not a saved man.
I looked those sweet, devout Mexican people in the eye and lovingly told them,
Quote: |
I realize most of you are good, God-fearing people. I know I am not addressing a room fool of street thugs. I am standing here tonight addressing a room full of Corneliuses. But like him, your own goodness cannot save you. Only what saved Cornelius can save you as well. You must be born again! |
You could see the looks of stark realization coming over faces. Heads began to nod. Please pray for the work of God in Mexico. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

Anyhow, I thought I would interject some positive news that uplifts Jesus amidst the current caustic atmosphere that reigns on this board. I see my efforts didn't go far, Oh well. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

Thanks for sharing. Of the many great passages in the Book of Acts, the story of Cornelius in chapter 10 is one of my favorite passages to preach and teach from. What a great testimony that chapter is, to the power of a praying, earnestly seeking man who was not even born again when his prayers got God's attention! |

It is also one of my favorites. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

I started a new job a few weeks ago and not able to come on here as much as I used to. Threads like these is what I miss most about Actscelerate.
The people I work with are very similar to those you preached this message to, they believe their goodness is enough.
Thanks you for sharing this. |
