What's been your toughest situation with staff member(s)? |
Da Sheik |
Thankfully, I've had a season of peace for quite some time. I have also had some nightmare scenarios with staff members over the course of my ministry. In light of recent threads describing problems with ministers and immorality, I thought I would pose this question. Without compromising your anonymity, I wonder if some of you would be willing to share some of your greatest challenges. I would be particularly interested in hearing success stories.
This discussion doesn't have to be limited to sexual immorality. It could be something as "simple" as a staff member causing division or poor job performance. |

Having to deal, as the interim pastor of a nondenom church, with a male worship leader who tried to seduce a young man in our congregation, admitted to having been actively homosexual for years, and then when told he would no longer be in leadership in any capacity until such a time as the leadership deemed him free and fit for ministry, claimed he had already met with another local nondenom pastor who had 'ministered deliverance' to him and said he only would need to sit out from active ministry for three weeks after trying to seduce the young man (and admitting to having lived a lie for years). Then, having the local board, several of whom were related to him, take his side in the matter, accusing the interim pastor of trying to destroy their church by coming down too hard on him by not letting him continue to lead worship. Then, having one of the board members call the interim pastor and threaten to kill him if he didn't allow his little brother sodomite worship leader to continue to lead their worship. Finally, when the whole bunch of reprobates (the board) stood firmly with their admitted sodomite worship leader, I told them I could have no part with them, and that I washed my hands of their 'church.' Absolutely the most demonic bunch of church folks I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. |

LOL. It's been nearly 20 years, and I'm finally getting to where I can kinda laugh about at least some aspects of it. Actually, this guy was not the sissified, girly man type, but was instead the bully sodomite type, if you know what I mean. He even tried to make it out to be not so bad, since he was "a pitcher, not a catcher." Good grief. |

Pastor Hispanic congregation |
wayne |
I got word from one of our members that he saw our Hispanic pastor picking up prostitutes. When we confronted him, he said it was not true and threatened to sue the person who brought such an allegation. We decided to let it go because if it's true it would come out.
3 months later we pull up in front of the church to find this pastors wife crying. When my wife went to comfort her, she was told that her husband was buying prostitutes. I immediately call a meeting with the Pastor and his wife to tell them that he was would be removed from his role and that the CoG would work with him to restore him.
He became defiant and said he had already asked for forgiveness. I told him that he would not be allowed to minister again in our building until he followed the rules. I went to the elders of the congregation and told them what we had found. I was met with opposition being told that I was too hard(called a bear in Spanish) and asked if I believe in forgiveness.
The group asked if the wife could be interim pastor, I told them no because I could see the hold this man still had on his wife. I told them we would hire a new pastor for them but they refused.
As a result the group tried to move to a new place and make it on their own but they failed. We later found out that the pastor had been inappropriately texting young girls in their congregation. |

If so, Link, what Wyatt dealt with was a "prancin pedophile." If them leaders in at Indy church had done right, they shoulda called a "Layin on of Hands" meetin, prayed/beat/slapped/coerced/punched/exorcized the demon out of him, got him right with God, then called the police--after givin him time to heal from the bruises. |

He was not under the age of consent. As I said, he was a young man. |

Honestly, I cannot answer the question nor explain what happened.
The first time I spoke on what happened regarding a similar thread with this type of question I caught flack.
Some guys from this state apparently read my comments & reported them to other people & I was confronted with a lot of negative remarks & false accusations because of the way it had all went down.
Keep in mind I didn't explain all of the details at the time because part of it was private but it didn't keep them from attacking me.
