Hey, I agree with you. That is a GREAT song that got ruined by one phrase. Some change the phrase.

The article reminds me of something. We treat congregational singing as if it is sacred. I've sermons on it that just assume we are to sing the way we do, applying scriptures to that idea. But I wonder if the New Testament references to such things as 'speaking to yourselves in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs' might not apply just as well to solos. So would 'every one of you hath a psalm.'

Jesus did sing a hymn with his disciples after the Lord's Supper, and I have read that Jews sing certain Psalms that night 'congregationally'.
