Post Dancing in Church Charles Page
Dancing has changed! It used to be called shouting but now it is "dancing" -jumping rhythmically to the beat of the music. Shouting was associated with a spirit moving uncontrollably by the individual. It was "jumping up from a sitting position" and dancing with all your might before the Lord.

Today if this takes place people think you are "crazy" or demon possessed.
Or worse you are old fashion pentecostal (COG)

If you do dance (most go to church to watch the dancing) how do you do it.
I was in a Latino service Sunday and a professional "worship and praise" leader, a quest from a Latino country led the service in worship. He gave detailed instruction for everyone to worship. He had a laptop for all his recorded latino music tied into the Church's audio system. He had black patent leather shoes and he was light on his feet dancing. He led the congregation in jumping up and down.

I had my cowboy boots on and I felt like I was doing the monster mash. I really tried to participate and even had trouble clapping to the beat. Soon the church got into the spirit of worship but I was just monster mashing.
It was not long till the spirit of worship that I felt a shouting coming on. At my age I can step out in the isle and hold on to a pew and dance with all my might -till the dizziness hits and all the oxygen has left my lungs. That is why I hold to the pew.

I resisted the shouting. I felt like a visiting overseer at an ole fashion COG - he just sits dignified as the power of the Holy Ghost falls. (The Spirit had departed long ago)

I actually told the Lord I was scared and these Latinos will think I am loco!

Do I need to learn some modern dance steps and buy some dancing shoes? Is there a spirit walk? How do you dance at Church? I dance at home before the Lord. "with all my might"

Have you learned to dance? Ever feel like dancing.

How do you dance in church? Can you help me. All I'm getting is ridicule from believers. I'm the master of ridicule and when others attempt it -they get ugly and just act "dumb"

I want to dance like David danced!

Hey, as annoying as you are, you are still a step up from some on this forum in that you have labeled me a "believer." Maybe we can find common ground after all.

I use the term "believer" as a person who has gone beyond the new birth to entire sanctification all others are regenerate and false professors. They are unbelievers. That is IMHO

It does establish our common ground, indeed!

One can't have a "new birth" and be "unregenerate" at the same time. That is a contradiction of terms.
There is one body of Christ with many members. Once you are born again, you are in that one body. There is not a separate body for those who have some supposed "second definite work of grace."

on that we agree!
However one can be regenerate and not be sanctified

What we are disagreeing on is being regenerate and still an unbeliever and I understand your difficulty! We have a right to our differences? right?

Now back to the OP!

Sorta strange, they are in tune with the beat and the cheer leader is not dancing!

That is NOT to say it is not a real move of the spirit.

Post Cojak
Shouting Sam Jones in NC camp meetings always shouted (danced) to the music. When asked why he quit dancing when the music stopped, his retort was, "The Holy Ghost knows when the music stops!" Cool

Post is dancing an "ecstatic experience" over which one has no control? bonnie knox
Or is dancing an act of the will?

When David danced before the Lord with all his might, was that something he willfully did?

Post Bonnie the answer to your question brotherjames
Is yes, it was an act of David's will. He danced "with all HIS might". Personal strength out of a heart of worship.jim Acts-celerater

is this considered a serious post that no one has a serious interest in?

Does this reach to the level of the Declaration of Faith on sanctification?

How much was "really Spirit led" in the old fashioned days, Charles? Son, I seen the real deal, an I shore nuff seen some cereal saints--fruit, nuts, flakes.

do you dance in the Spirit? or do you watch others dance and then talk about whether they are in the Spirit or the flesh.
