Anger and fear has brought many to the political process who previously were not paying attention. I think the past 8 years of Obama have awaken some who just did not care before. A person came on the scene with name recognition who was saying all the right things to garner their support. He got a lot of free publicity. He destroyed his opponents with bullying and innuendo.

And here we are.

Sadly I can not with a clear conscience vote for the republican nominee. "I did not leave the republican party, the republican party left me."

He is not conservative. He likes planned parenthood. He likes big government. He is not a public servant. He is an opportunist. He is a narcissist. He is a loud mouth bully. He is an authoritarian.

I will go to the polls and vote. I will vote for my representatives and state and local government officials. I will not vote for president. That is a first for me!

I enjoyed the debate, thought Pence did fantastic. Then I felt sad afterward. Sad because of the obvious difference in temperament between the nominee of my party and Mike Pence. Why can't we nominate level-headed, articulate, true conservatives any more? Golf Cart Mafia Consigliere

In fairness to Trump - he nominated as VP a true conservative and true opponent to Planned Parenthood.

So if he is still as you say - his actions tell a different story.

Why say something like, "...they do a lot of good things"???

I believe words still mean something. I understand where you are coming from, but I would prefer good words and actions. I know...I know that would be asking a lot.

Seems Trump's words trip him up most of the time and that will be his undoing!

I thought it was well known that Trump took Pence as a concession to the RNC so they would fully support him.

Anyone can see that Pence doesn't agree with Trump on many issues, but he does play the part very well. I wish I could justify voting for Trump for Pence's sake, but I can't.

I find myself in the same position as Diakoneo. Some have said, "Vote for the lesser of two evils." That would still mean voting for evil, and I just cannot bring myself to do that.

I will probably do a write in vote (if that option is available on our TN ballot)...probably Marco Rubio.

This is a sad day for America. It is a call to prayer for the church. The church cannot lose its prophetic voice during the political season. To blindly follow the "anybody but Hillary" mantra and vote for a candidate whose life track record is anything but Christian and who manifests all the characteristics of a Narcissistic Sociopathic Personality Disorder waters down our prophetic voice. (Check out this website and see if you don't think of Trump when you read it: http://www.healthyplace.com/personality-disorders/sociopath/beware-the-narcissistic-sociopath/)

A number of months ago I said that if this election comes down to Trump vs Clinton I will see it as a possible sign of God's judgment. I pray the ancient prayer of Habakkuk 3:2, "Lord in your anger remember mercy."

How did this happen? I think it was because people who normally didn't vote who watch reality television and think it's okay to call people names, as long as it is funny, voted in the Republican primaries. That, and there were several very similar candidates running against each other. Cruz, Rubio, Carson, Fiorini, etc. were all for the good social conservative stuff on abortion, family values, etc. Christi sounded tough, but he was out-toughed by Donald Trump. The vote for a regular conservative candidate was divided up among ideologically similar candidates. The reality-TV watchers outnumbered each of the other candidates.

Last time, the choice was between Obama and a Mormon. I think that was a more difficult choice for me, even though the Mormon had at least some decent 'family values' that he mildly held to. He'd been soft on abortion in the past.

Since presidental nominees are not immortal, if you are faced with two equally unappealing presidential candidates, does it make sense to vote based on the VP candidate?

What if Trump got elected, took the job, felt satisfied that he got elected president, and decided to just quit and be the contractor for the best wall in history? Then we'd have his VP candidate. Why not vote based on the VP?

We could do a 'protest vote' and vote for some minority candidate (who isn't in favor of killing babies), but we know that won't result in a candidate who can be president this go-around.

Another concern is judges. Hillary Clinton seems to have a left-wing agenda. Trump seems to have a Trump agenda. Which one is worse for the courts? Someone with no particular political agenda choosing whatever judges he likes, or a left-winger with a specific agenda appointing pro-baby-murder, pro-sexual-perversion judges. I think appointing (professional qualified) judges at random is better than letting a left-wing idealogue appoint them.

Let's pray for both candidates.

I guess the Apostle Paul didn't make the cut for the GOP ballot this time around & even if he did he might have a catch in his get along that would make you vote elsewhere.

I don't like the GOP nominee either but I know it's the only way I can actually vote to try & stop Hillary - he isn't the final step, he's just a step to get us away from total melt down under the Obama/Clinton regime.

Only one vote will actually count in terms of trying to defeat her & that is a vote for the only nominee who might, with the slimmest of margins & that is the GOP candidate.
Is he arrogant, full of hot air, narcissistic, loud & obnoxious? Emphatically yes!!!
But she is that times 10 & I am sad to tears to hear good Christian GOP's with a chance to defeat her say they will not vote for the 'only' candidate that can beat her. The Gary Johnsons & the write in's may make you feel better but your vote will not help to defeat her.
I live in Calif & my vote is most likely a throw away vote because it's already been decided months ago that she has this state in the bag but I'm going to vote for Trump anyway. I can't justify using my right to vote in a way that will not contribute to her downfall.

And what past indiscretion would be popping up at the last minute against Rubio? This is reality, folks. Shielded by the media, the Clintons live one of the biggest double standards in history.

Our biggest problem here RS is, the two sides preach from different books. The Democrats SAY they are liberal, most anything goes. But our 'FAmily Values' Republicans seem to inadvertently give a lot of fodder for the statement: "So THAT is family values", at some stupid act of a Republican.

One day Christians will realize we have never elected a pope or pastor. The closest time we came to electing a Christian was Carter, and most of you disliked him. Yeah OTCP at 90+ he has changed a lot, but in office and before he lead a Christian life.

We believe in separation of church and state, but know and believe that this country was founded on Christian Values, but being a Christian was never a 'test' for citizenship. Embarassed

Sorry about the ramble, Yes I would vote a Rubio Pence or vice versa. I would even vote Mitt/Bush. However at this late date the only saving factor would be Trump stop campaigning and Pence do the campaigning.

I think legally, If elected Trump could resign the first day (and have the record for the shortest presidential term) and that would put Pence in the driver's seat. How could you tie that down legally I do not know. But I know it would be hard to put a new name on the ballots in all states.

However Trump probably thinks he can overcome (spin) this. He sure does not know how to apologize. ' I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but others have done worse' is not an apology.

Hillary has over come Benghazi and many untruths, but her teflon coating is much better than Trump.

Very true.

What if our brothers applied the same logic to America as a whole? After all, while we sought to apply the principles of the natural rights of men, as espoused by John Locke, to all white men at our founding, we did not apply them to Africans living among us. Thus how can we support a nation with such a racist past? Is it really worth preserving?

Now of course logical people will realize that the masses of non-elitist whites being given the same rights as royalty was a HUGE leap forward in the struggle for equality, even if blacks were still deprived for a time.

So if I can forgive the Framers for not being perfect in their thinking concerning the rights of all men, I can forgive Trump for something he said in private 11 years ago.

Post Re: Rubio - Pence Methocostal
You are far more "generous" on your view of Carter's Christianity. He is unabashedly liberal and we know exactly what that means, pro abortion, pro secularism, pro gay, anti Isreal. I can NOT determine how a so called Christian supports the murder of the most innocent among us, the unborn.

Let us not forget his attempt to show he wasn't nearly the choirboy people made him out to be when he agreed to be interviewed by Playboy where he gladly said he lusted "in his heart". I don't condemn him for lusting in his heart as we have all sinned. Rather, in an effort to distance himself from Christianity to lure the anti-Christian vote he decided to be interviewed by Playboy, a magazine that denigrates the value of women to be sex objects.

Carter sure has a strange way of showing his "Christianity". Judge not, yes, but if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, eats like a duck. In all probability it ain't no Chicken Smile
