At first I thought it was better, but now I cannot tell. WE are on the net via cell and it is hard to honestly tell.

Good luck! Smile

Bought a slim desktop at Sam's, didn't like it. It was just as slow and kept freezing up. Returned it, upgraded the memory/hard drive, still slow! Ugh! I went to Microsoft forum and apparently it is a big issue! Ready to take this one back! Acts Enthusiast

My son took his new laptop with Windows 10 back to Bestbuy. It was terribly slow too. Lightning fast at first, then real slow.

It was probably not 10. My XP pro is still faster than 8 and probably 10.

Bishopswife, I did the same thing. But there's one thing you need to check. Go to "power options", and make sure the " high performance" box is checked.
I think by default the computer comes with " balanced power". You don't want that for a desktop. Click " High performance"
I wanted to take mine back also, and then I checked the " High performance and now it's very fast.

Thanks Krista, I was balanced power and switched. It does seem to be faster, but I am on the net via a card (cell towers) and it is basically slow anyway. When we get off the road Imma going to be able to see videos and news without waiting for mouths to catch up with sound etc.

Anyway, Thanks. I am a 'used to be techy'. Not any more, it even took me awhile to find settings. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Did that .. Still the same! Running AMD A8-7410 AM4 processor with 8.0 GB ram & 2 TB hard drive. Twisted Evil
PS, the browser I've used is MS Edge and/or Google Chrome .. No change .. Literally I sit and wait for the page to show up! Not the Internet server - it works fine on Internet with laptop, iPad, etc

With those specs, you should have a blazing fast computer.
One thing, If you know how to partition your hard drive, so that the partition your operating system is on, is smaller.
I know... know....the bigger ( 2TB ) is better. Not always.
You could try resetting your computer to factory specs.
There is no reason your computer should be running slow. If a few simple tweeks don't work. Take it back, because it's not an issue of windows 10. it's an issue of that particular computer.

Based on what ya describing an all, I cant imagine Windows 10 bein the culprit. Hate ya havin the problem, maybe a call to the Geek Squad at Best Buy or sommers might give more insight. Acts-pert Poster

Now its being suggested that the combo box (internet, phone, cable) bundles are causing the issues with Windows 10 .. That's just great 😩 Acts Enthusiast

If the computer itself run the programs fast, but the internet is slow, it has something to do with a setting on internet options.
It is probably something simple.

Post Internet Box BishopsWife
It is definitely something to do with the bundle box (phone, internet, cable). I plugged in directly to the box with network cord and I am blazing fast! Of course, I had to move my computer into the dining room to plug in. Rolling Eyes
Seems it is the culprit with Windows 10 for some unknown reason.

Schedule a tech from your provider for a service call. That can and should be corrected.

Then the problem is with your Wifi if you plugged directly into your modem and the problem disappeared.

The issue could be due to the drivers. The drivers for the network card have to be updated. I would suggest you download and install the latest drivers from manufacturer website. Also check The Microsoft drivers. One or several may be corrupt.

One last thing , turn off your Modem and Wifi , wait a few seconds and turn it on again. this will request and load a different IP address for your modem. I know that Frontier has a problem that requires this procedure every now and then to speed the net up. I have seen the speed increase from .5meg to 6 meg after doing this.
