In another thread, "Disappearing Act," http://www.actscelerate.com/viewtopic.php?t=89153COG ministers in a state are asking questions about what happened to a "Church Plant" after $40,000 was invested. According to some posts here, news about that project has disappeared.
For what it is worth, here is my Public Relations advice to the AB and State Council.
FIRST, thanks to an AB and State Council who are interested in planting new churches. The desire to do good is in my opinion always a matter of the heart.
However, secrecy by a State Office, especially when it concerns money people donated to support the work of the Lord, WILL nearly always place good motives in suspect.
Romans 14:16 says, "Let not your good be evil spoken of."
Bring the minister's there into the proverbial "Loop" instead of pushing them out of it. Just get over the old "You are not worthy to know." Ministers there absolutely are worthy to know. They are not just part of the team. They ARE the team.
Document for the record what happened. Share a brief letter, not email or text, with ministers there. Share what happened and what the plan for the future are in that matter. Be sure to share about leadership's desire to reach out and plant a new church. Attempting to do good is not a loss even if it did not work out as planned.
REMEMBER, THE STRUGGLE IS THE STORY
Share some of the struggles in getting the church off the ground and in keeping it alive in the early stages of the project. This can be done without making negative statements about anyone. For example, if it is the case, "Some who began the project with us, have not been able to continue."
Was it illness or other unexpected circumstances that have kept them from continuing? If so, say so. Don't leave their reputation to be left to gossip.
What happens with that project now? Tell the ministers, "We are asking our ministers to join us in prayer for (what) to happen. As we continue to work together in the Lord's Harvest, your prayers are much appreciated."
That is my opinion. What is yours?
