Republicans, how much are you willing to compromise? |
Quiet Wyatt |
Is there any action or policy that a Republican candidate could ever make/take that would cause you to abstain from voting for him / her? Any at all? If so, what would that be?
If you don't know...please proceed no farther until you make your list.
If you have no list...please repent. |

How a person deals with the weak and the less fortunate tells a lot about their character. How they would treat "the least of these", the widows, physically challenged, orphans, unborn... Stealing, lying, blatant deception, cheating, injustice and killing. I think all of these should be on our list as believers. |

1. Disrespect towards others - including name calling
2. Self Centered
3. Obviously putting our country below or after partisanship
4. Disregard for the constitution and Bill of rights
5. Continuous lying
All or any one of these would not get my vote. |

Whichever candidate has the least non Christian characteristics.
This year - it is a binary choice - on or off.
There isn't a third option.
It's that simple.
Death by fire or sub zero temperatures - which do you choose - you are going to get one of them no matter what you choose.

I agree with all but Kiss the US goodbye. There are way to many good people in this country to let that happen regardless of who's in office.
If the country gets reshaped then we will have to reshape it in time. |

Thanks for saying that. I feel hopeless in my reasoning, but hopeful in my heart. That's why I honestly don't think Hillary can finish us all off like some do. She's horrible, no doubt about it, but God is greater and I think if God's people start worrying more about God's business than everyone else's, there is still hope for our country.
As for things that will keep me from voting for a candidate,
1. Abortion - past and present claims considered
2. Temperament - Would I trust them to put America's interest ahead of their own, leading a all to peace.
3. trustworthiness (beyond simple moral failing) - have their past actions warranted future trust?
4. Moral failings - have they lived a life that shows they can't be trusted? (forgiven and trusted are different things)
5. Deep and narrow vision of the Constitution - Do they seem well versed in our most important national document? If they have the liberal "its a living document" view, then they can't govern as the Founding Fathers intended
6. History of fair and honest dealings (either in government or business)
Partial list, but I'm starting to see why I can't decide

I could probably name a few like criminal behavior, lying about military service, wreckless financial accountability, a penchant for war activities & so on.
But if you're trying to lay a trap & lure me in regarding Trump it won't work.
I've already gone on record countless times describing that I don't like him but I can't sit back & let HRC assume the preverbal throne.
There are numbers of people running for POTUS but there are only 2 real candidates & I'm voting for the candidate that will keep her out & right now that seems like a far fetched fantasy. No I don't like my choice & if there were someone else who had a real shot I would consider that person, but that isn't the case.
Fantasy or not I will vote for the one & only individual who has a murky chance of beating this Christian hating woman who has an anti-God agenda.

1) Religious liberty- Jefferson was a fornicating Deist that rejected the deity of Christ. Yet he fought hard to make sure the States' right to decide for themselves on issues like school prayer and religious expression on public land was not infringed.
Like Rahab, Trump has lived a morally impure life. Yet he is letting down the scarlet cord for Christians in America. Other GOP candidates in the past, who passed the evangelical smell-test, and talked about having "accepted Jesus" did NOTHING to dig out the entrenched anti-Chrisitan bias in our Federal institutions and courts. I wish Trump had lived more according to my values. I'm just glad he is standing up for my right to live them. While some stress "values", I look for liberty.
2) I'll finish later. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

Couldn't agree more!
The base in the GOP is looking for more of the same. The new GOP's are looking to dump the part where it means "Grand Old" & begin with a new chapter in the party.
Trump is just a stepping stone to a better system in D.C. & I think Pence could make it even better in 4 years. _________________ "Empty nest syndrome is for the birds!"

I guess RS has stated how I feel better than I can. I have no list and honestly do not feel I need to repent. We get in trouble mixing church and state.
First of all I can see this is directed at Republicans who are willing to hold their nose and vote for what they consider the lesser of two evils BECAUSE one of them will be CIC, vs putting a vote where it will not count.
I say it over and over Carter was the closest thing to a Christian president we have had in centuries, and most folk on this forum (and most GOP folk despise him). We are voting for a president not a pastor or SS teacher.
That is my opinion. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

It's also the Trump platform. Christians have tried to fight this battle from a "moral issue" stance when they should have been fighting from a Constitutional issue stance.
38 States banned gay marriage. But a rogue court invents constitutional rights for gays that do not exist and takes yet another right away from the sovereign States. That's a constitutional issue. They did this with school prayer and abortion as well. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

I should say for those who may not be aware, that I have never been a member of any political party. I also have not posted this as some kind of trap or trick. I am sincere in asking the question essentially, "How far is too far or how low is too low for you to support a GOP candidate?"
For those who were forthright enough to give a list of things which would disqualify a GOP candidate from getting your support/vote, thanks, I appreciate it. |
