Post Russia or just simple Phishing Cojak
Today it was announced that the Democratic party was hacked not necessarily by 'HIGH TECH" Russia, but the simplest Phishing expedition by some hackers. Podesta (?) received an phishing e-mail saying someone had used his pass word and he needed to change it.

He then contacted Democratic Campaign HQ Security and they said the request was legit. He followed the directions and gave the hacker all he needed to know.

The Democratic Party wants to push the Russian button, because it is more 'ominous.'

In all honesty, it could have been a Russian hacker, but it could also have been a HS student from Podunk, NC.

The IT security guy is responsible for the hack. The email said his account had been accessed by someone in the Ukraine (if I remember correctly, I read this yesterday), that was the phishing "story" the word "Ukraine" was in the email (false story to get him to click a link and "change" his password) so now people even more ignorant than the so-called IT security person, are thinking "Ukraine means Russia", its Russia! Whoever sent the phishing email owes their success to the Hillary Clinton campaign people. Incompetence breads incompetence.

I'm going with Russia. The hackers left their 'fingerprints'. It's interesting to note who else they targeted.
http://hotair.com/archives/2016/10/20/podesta-clicked-phishing-link-sent-russian-hackers/
"... but the hackers forgot to set two of their Bitly accounts to “private.” As a result, a cybersecurity company called SecureWorks was able to glean information about Fancy Bear’s targets. Between October 2015 and May 2016, the hacking group used nine thousand links to attack about four thousand Gmail accounts, including targets in Ukraine, the Baltics, the United States, China, and Iran. Fancy Bear tried to gain access to defense ministries, embassies, and military attachés. The largest group of targets, some 40 percent, were current and former military personnel. Among the group’s recent breaches were the German parliament, the Italian military, the Saudi foreign ministry, the email accounts of Philip Breedlove, Colin Powell, and John Podesta—Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman—and, of course, the DNC."

Or, Cojak, if you're thinking what I'm thinking, it might have been Jerry Wiley's MVA. Wink

I read (major news source, I don't do redstate, etc..), that HRC's private email server was attacked 10 times in a two-day period. This was from the documents released through the freedom-of-information act a couple days ago. That is pretty serious. I've been in IT support for 23 years and I haven't seen any email server attacked like that unless it was completely out of date, un-patched, and pretty much advertising itself as a back-door.

In many cases of 'experts' it is an opinion or guess in a 'clue'. At one time I was an IBM repairman and programmer. However now I am LOST in the new technology. But from he beginning 'false' leads have been built in.

I still believe it could ave well been a very savvy HS student. BUT as Bonnie said, very well have been Jerry Wiley and his Group of the MVA. Smile

FWIW, Julian Assange (WikiLeaks) is saying it is NOT the Russians.

When I ask about motivation, I am not coming up with the kid from Podunk.

Now they're saying the emails are directly related to the Clinton Foundation pay-to-play investigation, and sources reporting to Fox news claiming that an indictment is imminent. Furthermore the 2 laptops that were supposedly destroyed as part of the immunity deal were not destroyed and are being analyzed as well. As a bonus, the email server supposedly had been hacked by at least 5 foreign governments. Folks this goes beyond political gotcha and should be frightening to all Americans. A politician who sells power and influence, who lies to the FBI and Congress, and who is careless with her relationships to the point of being compromised by them, and we may elect her as President? No need to hack when Hillary tells Russians how we handle nuke attacks - and response times - in debates.

She is just too dumb to be President.

Make America Great Again.

One more thing, this morning's daily revelation is that the state department coordinated its response to the email server revelation in 2015 with the Clinton campaign! Total corruption. Look for the next emails to implicate the exalted Hussein himself.

sorry for quoting myself Smile

Okay, but who is Fancy Bear?

Btw, I had a weird dream about Russians last night. (Maybe that was the shiitake mushrooms I ate last night.)
Anyway, I was where some Russian diplomats were being hosted. In one part of the dream, I was showing the Russian guys a baby snapping turtle. (This was an outdoor picnic.) I was holding the turtle and hoping it wouldn't bite me. After I set the turtle down, one of their German shepherds almost ate it, but the turtle managed hide next to a tree trunk.
After the picnic, we kept going through a lot of doors. The doors had many coats of white paint and were in brick buildings. I'm sure they were like the door on a church I've been to--just can't remember exactly which church.

Stay away from the Shiitake Smile

My wife said Brother Minter (I think was his name) at Tomlinson College referred to those weird dreams as "Bean Dreams".

Did you have Beans with your shiitake?

"Sergei Markov, a pro-Kremlin political analyst, was jubilant at the result and said a Trump presidency would make it more likely the US would agree with Russia on Syria, where the two powers back different sides and Moscow has intervened decisively on behalf of the president, Bashar al-Assad.

Markov also said it would mean less American backing for 'the terroristic junta in Ukraine'. He denied allegations of Russian interference in the election, but said 'maybe we helped a bit with WikiLeaks.'"

Cojak, do you remember the "Andy Griffith" episode where Barney is working in Raleigh and offers to find a place in Mayberry for a summit meeting between the Russian and American? After a failed attempt to secure the use of an old man's mansion, they are forced to meet at Andy's house. In the middle of the night, they raid Aunt Bea's icebox and iron out all the details of their accord.
I had watched that episode recently (and that might have factored into my dream as much as the shiitakes).

No but I would have enjoyed it. We missed about 4 years of TV and Andy too while in Gitmo. No TV from the states there. Sad

We watch reruns on MeTV (even though DH has the complete set on DVD). We also have them on VHS which Darling Son and I watched one summer. Darling Son could do the cutest impersonation of Barney then. (DS was about 8 years old.)
You can find the episode free on the internet. It's called "Barney Hosts a Summit Meeting."

Now that Obama has called for an investigation, this is getting news again.
I thought this interview with Bolton was interesting.
