due to gender identification issue?

This issue is here sooner than any of us expected.

LOTS of students get money from the govt - or govt backed loans to attend college.

And this administration ain't taking no for an answer.

Comply or else.

God help Lee University.
God help us all.

Post AG Official said ... Mat
At a joint denominational prayer conference held in NC a about a year and half ago I heard an AG official say that if the government stopped student loans and grants to the 16 or so AG colleges and universities the AG would be forced out of the "college" business. I must say, I did not see the government using the "restroom" issues to enforce its will on institutions as the first assault, I thought it would be hiring practices or student codes of conduct. Using "restroom rights" is a very "low blow" indeed by our tax supported government. It will be interesting to see which schools compromise and which schools set a new course and keep their beliefs.

It could be a matter of....we have to comply with things we don't believe in to exist. So, the question is, do we comply to exist so that the majority of the experience is positive or do we throw in the towel and let the kids fend for themselves in government schools? Acts-pert Poster

Post When we are forced... Mark Ledbetter
to recant our Faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ, then we will know for sure.

We are overcomers by:

    The sacrifice of our Savior

    The Word of our Testimony

And when faced with death we remain faithful.

(A summary of Revelation 12:11)

THERE MAY be a time when we are forced to comply or pay the penalty - fines and/or jail, other rights curtailed, but the ultimate test is when we must recant or die.

We are not better or more faithful than the Christians in the Middle East, India, and other parts of the world who daily are persecuted for their faith. If we think we are then we are arrogant and conceited and our faith is no faith.

I'm speaking as a free American with the Christian principles this country is founded on. Are we (those of like mind) so weak in this country that our opinion is no longer worth considering? The answer may be "yes". If so then so be it. I'm just asking the question, has it come to that? I think many societies have crumbled not because the majority was corrupt, but that the corrupted convinced the rest that they were irrelevant. Golf Cart Mafia Consigliere

It's not a matter of being weak. It's a matter of finances. Students depend on student aid and a lot, if not most from the government. So, unless there is a way for the students to get loans without the government, there's no problem. Otherwise, there is.

After threatening to withhold fed dollars from North Carolina the Feds announced today they would not do that.

If we as a denomination cannot come up with the bucks, and the administration cannot cut costs enough to keep a University afloat, Maybe we are pretty weak kneed and need to buckle down and comply.
BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE IT! (JMHO)

This is another 'plank' in building a liberal ark. Maybe this will also become a political football for a candidate. Of course I see Hillary behind this 100%. Shocked

A school could have a policy that says, "We allow men who are transforming into women to use the women's bathroom" (and vice versa).

But since transgenders are really eunuchs or women with artificial attachments, no one is really transforming, so they can just keep the right gender in the right bathroom.

I am planning on exercising some civil disobedience against the Obama administration's policy on transgenders and bathrooms. I am going to do so by continuing to use the men's bathroom like I have been doing.

I wonder if Obama urinal pictures will become popular like Jane Fonda pictures during the Vietnam War.

Post Resident Skeptic
Until the States realize they are States, nothing will change. We keep hoping one co-equal branch of the Federal Government will reign in the other. It will not happen. By taking that approach, we perpetuate the myth that ANY of the three branches of the Federal Government have authority to dictate to the States on issues not expressly discussed in the Constitution.

Change will require replacing State Governments that always cave with ones that will defend their citizens against Federal overreach, no matter the cost.

No, but the issue is, with over 5,000 students, if you lose government funds overnight and decide not to comply, you will lose about 4,500 students. Then, what?

Lee doesn't just receive government funds, but funds from the Church of God as well. I do not think this will affect Lee, at least not in the near future. There is a reason it is a private university.

IMO, it would be foolish for Hillary to be behind this. It hurts her party. Sure, some left-wingers want transexuals to use the wrong bathroom, but this sort of thing threatens women everywhere.

I heard a funny comment about the suggestion that NC have both genders in the bathroom. One woman said she had a hard enough time succeeding when she used a public restroom, and she certainly wouldn't be able to go if there were a man at a urinal outside the bathroom door.

This is discrimination against those with constipation. Let's stop the constipation discrimination in this nation. There are a lot more women with constipation than there are men. Hillary may lose some of the constipated female vote along with the safety-concerned female vote over this.

I think men everywhere should vote against changing rules to the bathroom. Women have long lines. If we have gender specific restrooms, urinals are fast and easy. Just go to a basketball arena and look at the women's line. Do we men want to stand in a line half that long with a bunch of women? No way. Who would go get the hot dogs or pizza while the females stand in line if the men had to wait that long, too? And I'm sure women don't want to have to deal with the puddles on the floor, either. The way it is is a good arrangement for both genders... or sexes. The liberals have redefined gender to mean whatever you think you are.

Are you saying the students at Lee don't receive fed student loans and grants/scholarships to help pay their tuition and living expenses? Lee may not be a "public" university like UT, but the "pipeline" of government funds flows through the students to "approved" institutions. Perhaps I am wrong, and Lee's students don't receive or need fed funds.

Why did the California COG ministers not bring this up when California signed the bathroom bill intolaw in 2013? Is this just a southern thing? I have been to California a couple of times since 2013 and am going again this year. Don't anticipate any problem. Maybe some of our California ministers could respond. Acts Enthusiast

Yes, Lee students do receive federal loans and grants. Is this something that is being threatened should an institution not conform? Serious question. I have not read or heard one way or the other.

As I understand what's going on in NC, the only ones whose federal aid is at risk are those in the UNC (state college) systems and the NC Public Safety offices. This is what one of the news stations here reported, anyhow. So unless Lee is a state run institution, it shouldn't be affected unless the situation extends there at some point.
