MORE WEDDING, LESS FUNERAL

"and saying:
‘We played the flute for you, And you did not dance;
We mourned to you, And you did not lament.’
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
But wisdom is justified by her children.
” Mat 11:17-19

John said: "He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30

Less funeral, less mourning, less lamenting, less fasting = less John.
More wedding, more dancing, more eating and drinking = more Jesus.

I"ve done a lot of fasting over the years. Considering this passage has been part of that journey. There were days, at His death, when the bridegroom was taken away from His disciples. They mourned. But He returned to them, was joined to them and now is "with them always, even to the end of the world". The new wine has been poured out on all flesh as Jesus said just past the scripture you quoted there in Mat 9.

He is our husband with which we "bear fruit". Rom 7:4
He is our Head with which we sit together. Eph 2:4-6
His is our life which with we are hidden in God. Col. 3:3,4

So He isn't "taken away" from us. He is "Christ in us". We are "in Him".
