1. Most faculty are inbred.
2. Most faculty hold unaccredited degrees.
3. Accredited by the infamous accreditation mill Accrediting Commission International www.accreditnow.com, a mill owned/operated by the Jesus Only preacher "John Scheel."
4. Course requirements are far beneath given norms for formal academic training.
5. Yep, an sadly, some a our very own COG boys has been led awry, an gone an got em a supposed credential (even a purported doctorate), from this mill a the month, International Seminary. |

I could care less about their accreditation. My question is what are they teaching. Are they teaching men and women to do Kingdom business, that is what is important to me, not something attached to their name.
Jesus had a Bible School his students did not have proper degrees, but they changed the world.
I met Dr. Tyler and his son Dan in 1997. He came over to where I was and started talking to me. I had no idea who he was until later.
He was in Jamaica, where he had a Bible School, that was training pastors. I was there preaching at the church where the School was.

I guess it would depend on what they used from their education. IF they used the knowledge from their educations for the advancement of the gospel thats great. If they started using the title Dr. then I would have a problem with that. Heres why;
I elected to go back to school a long time ago to further my education in computer science. I told this to our pastor at the church we were attending. One week later he told me he did the same and had already received a Doctorate in theology. In ONE Week ! He wanted to be addressed as Dr. because of this which I would not do. This created a void between us. Quite obvious that he wanted the title to raise his status up.
There are many Like this guy and there are many that are not like this guy. Those that are like this guy smears the entire process of this type of education. |

I would agree if they weren't "attaching something to their name", but they are. So, obviously the so-called "degree" means something more than what they are learning. Were they just getting a certificate of completion of Biblical and Ministerial studies, then that would be wonderful. Calling it a "doctorate", is false and underlines what is important to these people. |

You have detailed precisely the problem with such slipshod schools. If all they were doing was offering some training, then awarding a "certificate" or "diploma," then there is no problem. But when the "graduates" are claiming BA, MDiv & PhD degrees, they are stating to the world that they completed the standard and normal sequence of study for such a degree. At places like International, this IS NOT the case. |

If you fully understood accreditation and what it implies, you "would care" about it. The comment above reveals that you do not understand.
If you, Dr. JL, earned a legitimately accredited BA degree, and John "Slipshod" Doe got a BA from a degree mill, and both of you were applying for the same position that required a valid BA, you would immediately begin to care about accreditation. |

I am one of the many who do not have any alphabet attached to my name. I respect those who do because I have just enough higher education to allow me a glimpse into what it takes to earn that honor. I am not as much envious of those who are called Doctor as I am the knowledge they possess. I did not have opportunity to get that education during my ministry and now am too old to do it. So when some whipper snapper comes along and has less training than I do, yet wants to be called Doctor, I resent that and lose respect for that individual. Sorta like climbing over the back fence at the drive-in, rather than going through the gate and paying the fare.

| "Mill of the Month:" A New Feature on Actscelerate |
Old Time Country Preacher |
Per the game plan, OTCP will introduce each month a "Mill of the Month." I will be explaining why the monthly selection is considered a degree mill, a notation regarding the claimed accreditation of the mill, and the slipshod academic requirements, especially at the doctoral level.
Finally, but sadly, one of the criterion for each "Mill of the Month" selection is that there are COG preachers who obtained degrees from the mill and tout them in their professional lives. |

Dr. JL, I'm really glad that Rev Tyler and his son Rev Dan Tyler (I can't say "Dr Tyler" in reference to either the father or son because neither hold an accredited doctorate) came over and started talking with you. This is commendable and reflects a very cordial attitude.
That said, could you please help the old timer understand how this legitimizes the credibility of International Seminary?

I cannot help you there. I am more concerned with their training than their title or lack there of.
I get what you are saying about the degree. Some folk are prideful and have to have a title. Dr., Apostle, Prophet, Bishop, Rev.
I liked being called Pastor. Some called me Preacher or Bro. _____ or Larry, I did not have a problem with whatever they called me. I did not have to have degree, earned or otherwise to be a pastor.
I called them by their first name unless they were a bit older than me, then I would call them Mr. OTCP.
