Post Trump's SC choice Ventureforth
I am praying that God gives Trump and his advisers wisdom in choosing a supreme court justice.

How many of you are praying?

The talk is that it is down to 2 choices: Gorsuch and Hardiman.
Which do you think is a better choice?

Gorsuch has clear prolife rulings.
Hardiman is a gray area.

So, hopefully Gorsuch is the choice.

Yeah, not that there aren't some good things about Hardiman. He is described as a devout Catholic. But right now I also tend to think Gorsuch is the safest pick for the reason you mentioned. Memories of Souter still linger. Pryor is even safer. But he would probably be too controversial. Both Gorsuch and Hardiman are relatively young so they would probably be there for a while.
All that said, God's will be done.

With McConnell seemingly ready to use the nuclear option, its a good time to put in the most conservative choice possible. Golf Cart Mafia Consigliere

Good point. But I would think this is if they are set on using the nuclear option now. I've seen headlines that say Democrats in congress are considering backing off now and fighting the for the next seat vacancy. But it seems to me Trump could nominate and see what Dems will do. If it's a fight and his pick doesn't get through the process, he has other options.

Trump could say if you don't like Gorsuch or Hardiman I'll pick Pryor and go nuclear. But seems to me, the nuclear option has definite risks, especially down the road.
2 important considerations about a future choice that may effect this one:
Is Trump a 2 termer?
How long will any liberal justice last? (I can see Dem's wheeling an ailing lib judge in with a wheel chair saying "hang on!")

iv'e read Hardiman is a centrist though.

Don't know how accurate this is though.
