My comment about the Book of Enoch was not saying you referenced it outright, but that apocryphal work is well known for promoting the fallen angels theory, among many other Jewish myths and absurdities.

My mistake Brother! We are in agreement about those that promote/endorse apocryphal works. I’m not into all of that sensational nonsense either. I’ve got some friends obsessed with the Book of Enoch and they barely know anything about the 66 inspired Books.

I ran across this video and thought the speaker does a great job of presenting various aspects of the topic. I think it would be well worth the time to listen (a little over 15 minutes) to a very scholarly exegesis and explanation.

Jude and II Peter 2 are similar, parallel passages. The sequence laid out in II Peter 2 fits Genesis if we assume it refers to the sons of God/daughters of men passage.

4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

Notice that story precedes the flood.

Also notice in Jude the angels that sinned did not stay in their abode. The sons of the resurrection, according to Jesus, do not marry neither are given in marriage, but are like the angels of God IN HEAVEN. The angels Jude mentioned did not stay in their proper abode. Angels in heaven are apparently unmarried.

Jude also quotes Enoch. The Amharic version of Enoch available today contains an angel-human hybrid story.

If I am not mistaken, the Book of Jubilees says that the angels were bound.

Without the Genesis 6 narrative, we have no context to understand why some of the angels are bound while clearly others are not. I think an honest exegesis will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the "Sons of God" refer to angels. This is a technical phrase in the Old Testament. Our challenge is not to understand it, but to believe it. The text literally says the Sons of God saw the daughters of men were fair and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose. The daughters of Seth are still the "daughters of men" (Adam in Hebrew). This is a one-sided arrangement.

In my mind, the only controversy relates to the Nephilim (the subject of the OP). The video I posted above did a poor job of explaining this IMHO. We must look to the text itself for the answers to our questions.

Gen 6:4  The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.  (NASB)

Normal childbirth would require no commentary at this point. Genesis 6:1 tells us that there was a population growing exponentially. Babies were being born at a high rate. Verse 4 tells us how the Nephilim came into being. This union of the Sons of God and the daughters of Adam produced an unusual offspring. Apparently, they were all male if we interpret the text literally.

Let's look at the facts. Satan is aware that the "Seed of the woman" will come to bruise his head at some point. This provides motive and opportunity for him to conjure up this strategy. There is an often overlooked aspect of Noah's deliverance. I won't make too much of it but I think it's worthy of your consideration. Notice what the Bible says regarding Noah:

Gen 6:8  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
Gen 6:9  These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

No one should question that Noah was a godly man. This is testified to in numerous places in Scripture. I do want to draw your attention to the word translated "perfect" in Gen 6:9. It's the Hebew word ta?m??ym. It is most frequently translated as "without blemish" and usually in regard to sacrificial animals. There is some strong evidence that this may refer to Noah's DNA. Before we are told of Noah's virtues, the Holy Spirit is careful to tell us that Noah "found grace" in the eyes of Jehovah.

Finally, we must consider what was so egregious that demanded a catastrophic Flood to destroy practically all of humanity. If we are going to say it was simply because of sin, then we should get dressed each day in our favorite life preserver.
